(Love In) Confined Spaces

Postby martin-6 » August 24th, 2010, 1:57 pm

Well I've been striking out on songs for about 3 months, so here's one I completed for a change. A bit silly and not a classic, but I like it well enough to, well, submit it.

Some affairs are open
Like poppy fields or oceans
Not so with you and me
Because of who might see

Two birds of a feather
We can't swoop together
We're super-secret lovers
Engaging under covers

Love in confined spaces
Bent hugs and cramped embraces
Closets, sheds and attics
Oh so charismatic
Whispers and manoeuvres
Round old TVs and hoovers
Hands and pressed up faces
That's love in confined spaces

Lycra-clad and bendy
It's clear you're not pretending
So I suffer for my sins
In the space behind the bins

Would it be so hard
For us to make out in the back yard?
I know it's not your style
But my body's not that versatile

Love in confined spaces
Bent hugs and cramped embraces
Closets, sheds and attics
Oh so charismatic
Whispers and manoeuvres
Round old TVs and hoovers
Hands and pressed up faces
That's love in confined spaces

(I can't turn you on) Every time I'm pushing my limits
(I can't turn you on) Find a box and put you in it

Love in confined spaces
Bent hugs and cramped embraces
Closets, sheds and attics
Oh so charismatic
Whispers and manoeuvres
Round old TVs and hoovers
Hands and pressed up faces
That's love in confined spaces

Oh so charismatic

Oh so problematic
Oh so gymnastic
Not so pragmatic
Our love is erratic

So I suffer for my sins
In the space behind the bins

So I suffer for my cheating
In between our (cramped) meeting

Would it be so hard
For us to make out in the back yard?

Could we be more audacious
To love in rooms more spacious?
It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.

I like it because it's a bit different. Some great lines in there - and a couple of good suggestions from KR2 as well. I like the last one - IMO, it'd round the song off nicely.

Good lyrics - now get some music set to 'em!

:D :D :D
