after reading the first page of comments i noticed one about playing music live that has been learnt from an on line tab site may be ripping someone off. as far as i am aware to play other peoples musicin public at a gig a small fee has to be paid to some organisation. i have organised a couple of gigs for some local bands and this cost is included in hiring the hall we used. as you can tell i dont no very deep into this but surely this means its not ripping anyone off and in the end its all advertising for the band that originally created the songs.

Dunno about that, but we should be allowed to sue, or better still shoot, people who create annoying jingles that stick in your head. Mental Trespassing or something.

I ran this original post 2 years ago and nothing has changed. OLGA is still offline. My knowledge on the subject on the matter has a little though. The sad thing about this isn't the fact that I can't get free songs, its that this is a play be lawyers and publishers to squeeze the last drops of cash out of a business they had no right getting paid by to begin with. They say they act in the interest of the artists'. That is not the case. An artist does not make money off songbooks. The publishing company does. Sure they send the artist a couple of pennies, but they line their pockets first. Musicians just need to make their money the way it was done for centuries before big time labels, publishing companies, and copyright laws. BY PLAYING THEIR MUSIC LIVE. Back in the twenties jazz performers would do a show on Friday with their peers in the audience. On Saturday one of those peers would play a version of the former's song(s), their own rendition, just blow the mind of Friday Night. Thats true music.
Indie labels will take over soon, and Music shall be restored
