Yes the weekly (and occasionally daily) giveaways from MusiciansFriend.com do ask that you receive the newsletter.  I've been entering these for a while now, and the newsletter is an interesting read from time-to-time.  I think it is weekly, and if nothing else, it tells you what the giveaway for the next week is  ;).  I don't think they sell anyone's info, because I haven't gotten any unwanted e-mail.  My $0.02
