Think you can't sing? Think again. Can you hum or sing the pitches as you tune your guitar? Can you sing along with your car radio? You can? Great! Now we know you can sing. It's good to get that out of the way. Come on in and wail away.

While singing and playing guitar can be a lot harder than walking and chewing gum it might not be as hard as you think. Follow these lessons and you may come to realize that anyone can sing.

The basics

Singing 101

Marking your music

Scoring points

Singing and playing at the same time

Thanks Nick. Great idea for a forum. :D

Just what I need. I'll be back with a heap of stupid questions just as soon as I've read all the articles.

Cough.... cough.... clear throat and stand up straight...

"Hey ho, hey ho and off to read I go..... "

Dang just what I needed another forum to read! Thanks Nick.

I'm starting to seriously work on my singing, so thanks for this, my violin teacher had me sing (because I told her I wanted to sing but wasn't sure how good I was) and she said I had a good voice, but I still think I have a while to go before I perform.

Just what the doctor ordered.
Part of the problem with any audience I have when I play is they soon dissapear when I start singing. Hopefully I will find an answer to that short of locking the door

Hey Missleman,

Your singing can't be as bad as mine...I went over smokingdog's house to jam and I sang a few songs...he didn't invite me back!

I just say "The louder you clap the sooner I stop".

You've heard of "standing ovations"? I now get running ovations....

Nick, thanks for starting this forum. And I have read some of the articles, but my singing still needs lot to be desired.

Whenever anyone comes to my house and looks at my guitar and says something like "Why don't you sing something?", my wife rushes to assure them that my singing is truly horrible and will clear the room. I definitely need a support group!

Current project: sing nursery rhymes for the kids while strumming without anyone leaving the room. I am working on "Brother John"!
