When plugging headphones into the headphone jack on my amp do I need to use a headphone of any certain impedence. In other words should the impedance of the headphones match the amps speaker ie. 8 ohms 16 ohms etc.

Short answer: no. Long answer, if your amp specs list an impedance for the headphone jack then that's the best one to use, but headphone impedances will be different to speaker ones.
