More than just friends here on GN

Post by Cat » May 2nd, 2012, 2:54 pm

Hey! Thanks for the friendship shown me over the past bit of a while. Spending a few years with you lunatics has been great. A divorce is tough at any time...but it looks like I've put the genie back in the bottle. Cat & Agi are back together! Expect some happier posts and some new songs! You're all a great bunch, I gotta say!

Yes, Randy...musically insane sums that one up! Thanks, matey. The groupie Is married 23 years ago wants a kid. Okay...okay...I can dig it! At 61 I'm pretty chuffed. Very cool, very cool!

It's good to be alive again, fellas! But...truly...there's a great bunch of awfully nice folks right here on GN. What can I say?

Thanks, Nuno...and all...yes, Vic...songster mode is well and truly in gear, I got music commin' outta my butt now!...'cept I'm stuck working on changing all those sour lyrics from a month ago to something a bit more upbeat!

Thanks, again guys...

Cat

yeah, I listened last night. the Negrille piece is very cool. the bass line is killer and the recording is excellent.
the second piece I also enjoyed. it has a lot more sophistication in the construction. did you play and record all the instruments?

Drums: Ralph Gilmore
Bass: Ron Gerson
Lead: Pete Fine
Me: all compositions and arrangements, all other guitars, keys, (leads on other tunes)

I changed the name on that one reggae-ish tune to Gold Coast Breeze because it's in the running for international release by the Australian Tourism and Convention Bureau (I think that's what it's called) as they gear up for a massive tourist PR campaign (holy crap...over $150million in world advertising). Working like hell to get the right vocalist...tough to do. Can't find a voice up to the rest of us, it seems! But with government funds airing it worldwide as the peg they're gonna hang Australia's hat on, I'm pretty nervy about it. But...underneath it all...they still "need a great song" so that's what I hope they see in it! Not too shabby as far as I can see, uncluttered with room for their blurbs over it...which was one of their "no compromise" stipulations.

THAT's my split pickup...on an Ibanez Artist through an ARP Avatar...love the bass strings in tandem with the actual bass guitar. That worked out way better than it was in my head. Sounds like I overdubbed it...but, nope...EAD & GBE were just into different channels panned far L and Far R with the top EQ'd bright and the bottom three EQ'd and compressed "punchy". DON'T those .008's sparkle on all that stuff!!!

Thanks for the critique, Randy...you know how I am about showing uncopywritten stuff after that god-awful screwing I got a while back...but, okay...I know a few of the GN guys well enough to clue 'em in to the magic of 8's and a split pickup!

Geez...am I ever in a good mood!

Ha!

Ha! I dig it, TR. I now have a Dom Perignon hangover. Everything's back to my sarcastic self after some self prescribed medication and sleep. Enjoy my New Age Guy side while ya can!

Gawd, fellas...I read my posts...how freakin' sappy! Two bottles of DP talkin'...but from the heart, anyway. So excuse the excess endorphins mixed with expensive French alcohol. Red faced...but, yeah...happy for a change. Still, my head hurts...and all I want outta life for the moment is for the ice tray to freeze up. Ugh!

Hey...and the "bone of contention" (pun intended) is now out of the way. At 61 I'm go for another kid. That's all it took. A solid 25 years with this groupie's been cool, fellas. So now I'm writing for different reasons and this time around I don't care if I can sell any of 'em...but, of course...I always do!

So let's put to rest this thread...I get red-faced re-reading it! Eh, such is love...
