Google Trends Christmas Spike

The overall trend is pretty much going down. I always got the impression that when Guitar Hero came out in 2005 that more people started playing. Or it could just be that people go to a site like youtube and stay there - not searching on Google.

It also seems that less people are getting their first guitar for Christmas as the years go on.

I wonder what might reverse this trend?
Perhaps a folk revival in pop culture?
Or an ... Idol/ ... got talent winner who plays a simple guitar part on-stage?

Or maybe a global re-awakening to learning skills that take patience and persistence - a new renaissance?

Still, there will always be people (like us) willing to put in the time and have fun actually making music.
It'll never fully die out.

Interesting post.
I tried 'guitar tab' on Trends and got the same downward movement.

Then I tried 'guitar tutorial' and got something quite different:

The only thing in common among all 3 is the big holiday spike each year!
