Can someone please tell me how to solo in open G? Because me and my band are doing a song where i play with a slide, and the song is in G. It's Bad Obsession by G 'n R. The gig is quiet soon, so i need to figure out that solo. Any advice is appereciated!!! Thanks. :D :D :D

I don't know that song, but the good old G blues scale is always handy.

Go here: http://www.looknohands.com/chordhouse/g ... ex_rb.html

On the tuning pulldown menu, select "Open G." DGDGBD

On the pulldown menu for "Scales" you'll see two handy options: In the "Regular Scales" you'll see "Pentatonic Blues Scale." That's actually the minor pentatonic. Under "Exotic Scales," you'll see "Blues Scale." That'd be my pick. It's got an additional b5 note that you don't want to hang on, but it's great in passing. (They call it a #4 instead of a b5, whatever.) It'll give you a dandy fretboard map of your scale.

Hey ricochet, Do you know if Brian Robertsons CD Vol. 1 on playing slide guitar can be purchased :?: I have vol. 2 but have lost VOL 1 ( I think i gave it to my nephew last year) That was a great teaching tool IMHO,the first CD covers all the basics on open G sliding. In fact Brians CD more or less got me into playing slide guitar 8) 8). -the dog

I think John Watts may have them for sale at Coast to Coast Music.

If you can't find it listed, E-mail John and ask. There'll be a link there.
