How embarrassing! So way off. Turns out it's a C#min? ....well somewhere between a Bmin and Cmin. Your mandolin is a tad out of tune...or is it just me?

I don't have a mandolin......... that was my acoustic guitar. If you listend to the hi-fi version it made the notes sound much higher for some reason (as I said in the post with the link in it) > that might explain it? My guitar is in tune (far as I can tell! ) and I checked it with my tuner and an online reference before I recorded as well.

Yup. That would explain it. Don't expect me to read. It takes me several hours just to two finger type these responses.

BTW Pete, you are very close but there is something you're missing. There is an added note which gives the chord an airy quality

Hmm, had another listen, best I can come up with is the Ab (466544) - just can't hear that additional note!

Maybe Rodder's can get it (he seems to be good at this! )

I don't know the name (and I'm really not sure about this anyway!) but I'll guess a D-major barred at the 5 fret (555787)?

I'm pretty sure I can hear the high e-string at the 7th fret, the lower notes are a bit harder for me to hear.

No, it's not a major chord....

Sounded pretty clear to me when I played it back - I always test out links before I submit. Did you try hi-fi or lo-fi? The hi-fi sounds slightly clearer, though there's not much in it....
