Writing music

Post by Blackjack » June 28th, 2016, 1:09 am

Can anyone shed any light on how to get started writing the music side of a song please? I find that I can come up with the lyrics ok, but I have no imagination when it comes to the music side. I know how I want the song to end up sounding - i.e. the kind of sound I want rather than specific music - but no idea how to achieve that. I find that I end up with it sounding like something else that already exists!

Please can anyone help ???
