Re: Vaguely guitar related...

One small point - particularly if you have any valve amps, make sure that the power circuits in your house are properly earthed. Valves use not just high voltages (which on its own is not dangerous) but generate a lot of current - which is, it's deadly stuff. If there's a ny problem, you want it to ...

Re: Using .008's

I hardly ever change my strings out. Can't remember the last time I changed the strings on my white Strat. .............................................. Intonation on the B and e strings are totally shot.... Got both saddles as far forward as they can go. I suspect that the lack of intonation is t...

Re: Texas Special Pickups

I have Texas Specials in my Strat, but don't have standard pickups to compare them to.
I have a Burns Marquee with standard pickups, but, then, we're comparing apples and pears.

I know it sounds like a cop-out, but I can only suggest that you go to a shop and try out a Strat with Texas Specials

Re: Dean Markely Promag Doesnt fit HELP!

Whilst it will solve the current problem, putting steel strings onto a classical is likely to bow the neck due to the increased tension (unless, of course the C40 has a truss rod).

Go back to wherever you bought it from and tell them the situation. Maybe they have a solution.

Re: Anchoring Pinky??

Playing mostly instrumentals ('cause I can't sing), my pinky is firmly anchored to the end of my wobble-stick, aka tremolo. Most of my picking takes place on or around the neck pickup, so no chance of it landing anywhere on the body.

Re: Teaching theory (or merely scales) is hard.

I'm not mad at anyone - I'm merely responding to the perceived tone of your post. To the casual reader, it comes across as arrogant and aggressive. If that carries over into your "teaching" style, it is hardly surprising that you get the response that you do. It's not what you meant to say that coun...

Re: Teaching theory (or merely scales) is hard.

I've not gone to your site or watched any videos. I've read your post and glean a lot from it. The beginners have NO idea what I'm talking about You're obviously not communicating what you want to say, in a manner that's understandable to them. ...and people with a music theory background learned a ...

Re: Is Anyone Familiar with This Guitar?

As cat say, there are many luthier built one-offs (anyone got a Chouard?). The other end of the scale is the brand name of a store chain that may never make it outside of their home country (anyone got a Justin guitar - other than me, of course). The quality ranges from masterpiece to better-used-as...

Re: Practice Makes Permanent

Monica, an 18 year old that starts in F1 will not see 19. No-one gets into F1 without a long background in other formula groups - most start as kids in Karting. They have spent their lives learning their trade - to become good enough to drive an F1 car. They learnt the "correct" way to handle a car ...

Re: Tube Amps - Scheduled Maintenance?

Sometimes reducing noises in a tube amp is simply a matter of reseating the tubes. Metals react with one another and over time reduce the electrical transference.

I wiggle the tubes out rather than just pull them.

Hi Steve,

I think we are very much in the same space - big instrumental fan (mostly because I can't sing - tom cats throw boots when I start).

Your handle says it all, really :)

So I bowled a quick Googly and came up with one tab for this song. The chorus ends (according to this tab) :
