Re: got this amp tell me about it?

Putting on my googles, I see that this is a bass amp. Probably rated at 200 W into 2Ohm. There is a 600W version as well. The blue colour may indicate that it is an older model, if the new ones are all red. The casters don't mean anything, anyone can put wheels on. All the ones that I found on the w...

Don't forget Powertab. It may be long on the tooth, but it is free and there's a lot of tab out there in ptb format.

Re: Boosting volume for solos for 2 amps without effects loo

If it's only a small boost, you need, use an equaliser. You not only get a boosted signal, you can also selectively boost/cut specific frequencies

Re: Boosting volume for solos for 2 amps without effects loo

You could use a clean boost pedal (Boss LS2) or you could try an equaliser pedal

Re: Metal Guitar Method Released by Watch & Learn, Inc.

Who is it that endowed the title of "the industry leader in instructional music products"?

Is it some independent body or is it the marketing dept of Watch & Learn, Inc.?

My instinct tells me it is the latter, but I wait to be surprised.

Re: Long term use of voltage converter for amp

If you're buying a tube amp, you could probably replace the power transformer cheaper than getting a decent power converter.

Re: Repairing finish on Gibson Firebird VII

It's worrying that the crack runs the length of the fretboard and turns in to end at the nut. It gives me the idea that maybe the fretboard is separating from the neck

Before parting with money, I'd want a luthier to look at the guitar.

Re: What Do You Think Of Tabs?

Vic, havve you not considered learning the other way around? Instead of learning standard notation and converting that into music, why don't you use your ears and translate that into standard notation? Might be what you need to get to grips with it. Use tux or GuitarPro and you can play what you've ...

To be honest, cnev, no, I can't be bothered arguing with someone who seems intent on reading more into what is written than is.

Re: Hendrix - was he really that good?

Maybe you didn't read it I read it - twice. I wanted to make sure that I wasn't misreading what you'd written. "If you are a fan of any artist in a big way, you will understand why people who are fans do not see huge portions of a record as "filler". Of the three Hendrix records released with in hi...

Re: Hendrix - was he really that good?

fleeaaa, you confirm what I believed - a '"huge fan" will gloss over weaknesses in his hero's work, simply because it is from his hero. Worse still, you are dismissing my view because I'm not a "huge fan". Your post comes across as "I'm a huge fan, therefore, I have an opinion. You are not, so you d...

Re: How would I play this part

I agree with Vic.

If the 3 notes are on the B string, play the 7th & 9th fret notes on the E string (2 & 4) and barre the 5th fret with your little finger.

If they are on the E string, play the 4th fret on the B string (9th fret) and play the barre with your index finger.

Re: Hendrix - was he really that good?

I understand what Vic is saying -- and I agree with him. We both grew up in the North of England around the same time (I come from the best side of the Pennines, though...) We were spoilt rotten with music. There was a burgeoning live music scene - just about every pub and club had live music at lea...
