Actually for one summer Sam was, but he progressed so fast I recommended he get a better teacher. Seriously? If so, that's impressive on for each of you. Do you really think that Mr. Administrator can ever be serious ? I still haven't mastered the art of interpreting your posts, Rahul, but Nick is ...

Clouds and Stars (title could be better)

I have all the music for this composed, but my brother just went off to college with all his recording gear and I'm left home without a single microphone to my name. Here are the lyrics anyway. Feedback is appreciated as usual. This one was inspired by a favorite angst-reducing pastime of playing an...

open mike - Ireland's Four Courts

Went to this Irish Tavern in Arlington, VA for an open mike tonight, and definitely had the best night of my four times playing out so far. I played second and opened with CCR's "Down on the Corner," which did not go so well because I knew the words only vaguely, and my picking wasn't precise enough...

Sorry to resurrect the thread, but does anybody have opinions on resistive vs. reactive attenuators? Weber sells ones that have actual speaker motors, but they are much more expensive than the resistive loads. Has anyone tried both?

Thanks for your suggestion, Dwayne. What kind of benefits does the mixer get you? I'm probably mostly looking just to listen through headphones, not so much to record, so wouldn't the line out signal on the mini mass be sufficient? Also, it seems to be telling me that the 40W HRD would need an atten...

Re: Tube amps and line out

... If that's the case then it must be a recent change. My hot rod deluxe has a "preamp out" and a "power amp in". The preamp out works quite well for sending a line feed to an input in my "studio". The amps still have preamp out, but doesn't that negate the benefit of the all-tube power section? I...

Tube amps and line out

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the going rate for a decent condition used fender hot rod deluxe is about $400 on craiglist in Boston. I was all set to go out and buy one, but I found out today that hot rod deluxe, blues deluxe, blues junior--all those god-damn delicious fender tube amps--do...

This doesn't work for rock star names, but I have been getting great rock band names as spam email subjects for a while now:

Alaskan hand
psychotic tripod
boiled clodhopper
infected avocado pit
ravishing mortician
foreign mastodon
moronic mirror
alleged freight train

Finally bought my first electric the other day at GC. Tacoma DM9 acoustic, with K&K Pure Western mini transducer system. Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS, Rosewood fingerboard with sunburst finish. I bought the Fender friday, then took both electric and acoustic in for setups Saturday, and wow. Espe...

Kustom HV30

Musiciansfriend listing: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Kustom-HV-30-30W-High-Voltage-TubeHybrid-1x12-Combo?sku=480797 Does anyone have experience with this amp? This is right in my price range, and it seems to be a good value. The octaves setting looks particularly attractive, as I suspect ...

The difference is where the scale starts. Starting the C major scale from C, and the G major scale from G, the intervals are the same.

Thanks Dneck. The song is a little different from what I'm used to. The guitar part has a lot of chords played up the neck, and the singing crams a lot more words into a given space. Between the two, and the fact that I have only played the song through a few times, come a lot of anxiety/discomfort....

A, G, C#, E makes A7. If you look at it, this is just the standard E shape A7 barre chord (575655) with the A and E strings muted.
