Constant directivity ?!?!!?!!?!?

Can anyone give me some information about " constant directivity " as it applies to horn speakers ? My electronic crossover has a button for them and I would like to know if I should be using it . My PA system is tri-amped with the crossover points at 150hz and 800hz roughly . What advantage does pu...

The sound of an electric guitar is so much defined by the amp that it is plugged into that it's hard for me to believe you would be happy going directly into the board . What we're used to hearing is the sound coming out of basically a woofer (or two or four etc.) . When you plug directly into a mix...

The cabinet houses and protects the speaker and also more importantly improves the bass response . It also focuses the sound to where you would like it to go . For monitors I use the auxilliary sends on my Behringer 2442 of which it has four/six (if you toggle the switch some of the signals can be s...

I too have returned from the inactive list . After my first wife left me , I went through a period of time where all the things I ever did for enjoyment just didn't seem to be fun anymore . I would still pull out my acoustic and play now and then but I would quickly lose interest and put it back in ...

I bought a 20' Whirlwind cable 20 years ago that still works fine but 2 years ago I let "Monster" convince me that I needed to upgrade . So I bought their 19' cable for $50 (!) and started using it as my lead . One night during a gig my amp cut out . I frantically ran through the list of possible cu...

If you are asking does it sound exactly like it does sitting playing it acoustically I would have to tell you no . But , it sounds a whole lot better than the Ovations I have heard , which to me sound like they're made of plastic , which they are . I can honestly say I haven't heard anything live th...

I also began playing again after a long break a couple of years ago and I have a few tips that I would like to share . 1. Make eye contact with your audience . Too many performers close their eyes and miss the show that their audience is putting on for them . 2. Realize that most of those people out...

I have an older model Barcus-Berry insider pick-up that just never had enough oomph to seriously consider using in a live situation when going direct into the PA . To remedy that I purchased a Fishman Pro-EQ Platinum Preamp , Equalizer , & DI for around $175 and was able to finally get the volume I ...

I believe the problem lies in the type of microphone you are using . Dynamic microphones ( SM-57 ) are great for mic'ing snare drums , guitar amps and even vocals but you need to be real close to the sound source . The sound quality drops off the farther away you get from the microphone . Condenser ...

The limiting factor in the Crate amp is the two 12 inch speakers . They do not reproduce the full spectrum of sound accurately enough to separate the differences between the acoustic's sound and the electric's . You need a high frequency speaker (tweeter) to bring out the nuances of the acoustic gui...
