Re: Coins for guitar picks?

You wouldn't be the first one to use a coin to pick an instrument with . If that sound is what you like to hear why not use it ? Is it bad for your strings ? Friction is friction although a metal probably would wear the string out quicker than softer materials . They make new strings everyday !

Re: Beginner public address

Active speaker positives : 1. Require no external power amp therefore there are fewer cable connections and components between mixer and speaker . 2. New designs are usually very light , which you will appreciate as you get older . 3. There is virtually no signal loss in the balanced cable required ...

Re: Set list?

At this stage in your development I would sprinkle in a few original songs to see how well they're received . If you get a positive reaction to them , by all means , add some more . Your audience will tell you by their response both during the set and in between sets . If you have someone you know w...

Re: Set list?

It all depends on your audience . If it's primarily a bunch of guys standing watching you play , slow songs aren't much good . In my experience if you only have one set of music to play , you don't want to play too many ballads if any at all . Obviously , if it's a wedding reception or something of ...

One of the places I have used is Parts Express . They have brand name cable and connectors of all kinds and quality . Sometimes you can even get free shipping .

Re: Beginner public address

It depends on how many singers and instruments there are in the band . Singers absolutely need a channel to themselves unless they don't sing at the same time or they share a microphone . If there are three or more singers in the band 8 channels wouldn't be enough unless you don't put any microphone...

Re: Beginner public address

I have owned a PA for many years and started with buying a mixer , equalizer , power amp(s) , huge speaker cabs etc. , etc. If I were to start over , knowing what I know now , I would buy a mixer with enough channels to provide all the inputs that I needed and that contained its own EQ and effects ....

Re: send-return question

Could you use an A/B/Y box before the computer ? These allow you to send a signal to two separate amp channels or to choose one or the other .

Re: No one can fix my guitar's neck

Somewhere between the nut and the bridge something is touching those two strings,
either a fret or the pickups . Did you try raising the bridge ? Or lowering the pickups ?

Re: Laney Ironheart IRT60 + Blackstar Series One 4x12 woes

If possible , isolate the speakers one by one , either by playing one at a time or unplugging one at a time. Maybe one or more speakers are bad. On a different tack , you could try someone else's head with your cabinet and see if the problem continues .

Re: Tone, Taste, or Technique... which is most important?

Technique , without a doubt ! Taste is like beauty , in the eye (ear) of the beholder .You will never please everyone . Tone is constantly changing . The tone you use in one song , or even in a different part of the same song , will be completely wrong for another song or section . Again it comes do...

Re: strap button issues

I would try a very small screwdriver , one that fits in the hole but doesn't touch the threads at all . If you turn the screwdriver , it might unscrew the tape from the hole .

Re: Severely out of tune!!

If you are saying the notes get progressively sharper as you go farther up the neck then either you have WAY too much string to neck height (action) or the bridge is in the wrong place . Is your bridge movable? A properly set up bridge is approximately the same measurement from the 12th fret as the ...

Re: Having trouble with Em7 and F chords

Many people have difficulty with the F chord but there is no reason to have trouble with the Em7 . It can be played by placing only 1 finger at the second fret on the fifth string . All the strings can then be played and it's an Em7 .
