Re: Dan Denley - Amazing Guitar Secrets?

I tried Solo Fire. I like Steve Stine - seems like a cool teacher and has an easy way of explaining stuff. However, the actual course content was misleading. This course has little to do with improv work. It has a series of technical exercises and that's pretty much it. I did voice some constructive...

Re: Why is every post held for approval?

Just realised that last message went straight through so looks like I'm set to go now.

Re: Why is every post held for approval?

Thanks, guys. It's not a problem. I thought spam was filterable if you had to punch in numbers or some word sequence to prove it wasn't a bot. I'll sweat it out though I missed how many posts need to be made before I get out the sauna. I'm not sure where the other posts I did went but I'll repost wh...

Re: Blues Pedals

I was looking at the Boss Blues Driver TRGuitar mentioned but I read somewhere that some people found it a little harsh and the recommendation was to dial back the tone knob. If I had money to burn I would try the Keeley mod of the same pedal as some people seem to swear by it. For the moment though...

Re: Why is every post held for approval?

I can understand and appreciate the spam but I have since made 4 more posts that have not made their way to the board. I tried my pm to the moderator rather than raise the issue in open forum, but my pm status is disallowed as well. I know the mods must be busy as well with their individual lives, e...

These lesson series are excellent. Part 9 refers to a part 10 which deals with how to practise soloing. Does anyone know whether part 10 is available or when it might be expected?

Re: Question about using the slide on the pinky.

Do a search for Kirk Lorange on youtube. He plays slide with his pinky and has has a great sound. He also has the planetalk and slide courses. He uses the rest of the fingers of the left hand to fret in between notes so there is a lot of freedom.

Why is every post held for approval?

I am new to the site and was just wondering why every post I attempt to make is held by the mdoerator pending approval. I understand the usual rules of decorum for websites are applicable but it's the first site where I've seen this applied to very post. Is this usual or do I need to post a certain ...

Re: Improvisation Course

Just a short follow up. Following your great advice on your personal way of teaching improv, Alan, I have also gone through the first 3 parts of the 9 part lesson series in the link you provided earlier and the approach is starting to make much more sense. I guess I just needed a simple way that cou...

Re: Improvisation Course

Thanks for the help, guys. Alan, I had a small eureka moment there - your advice on what you do with your students actually makes a lot more sense than anything I have come across, teaching wise, and is a structure I can defnitely work with. I appreciate improv must seem unconfined by structure but ...

Re: Improvisation Course

Thanks, Alan. I should have elaborated a little, my fault. I already have a good foundation of the technical related stuff, both theory and practice, as they relate to guitar. I have also in the past done the usual Royal School exams in piano and violin so I know one has to break down one's preactic...

Improvisation Course

I joined the forum today and spent the better part of the day using the search function to look for a topic exactly on point. apologies if this has already come up, but I am looking for a comprehensive course on how to improvise. Most of the stuff I have seen out there that calls itself improv but i...
