Re: 2009 Guitar Goals: How Did You Do?

I learned about 55 Songs start to finish. I have definitely improved in soloing. I'm more consistent and definitely not nervous playing in front of audiences now. I can sing and play as long as neither the singing or playing is too complicated I can improv much better now - rhythm or lead Started a ...

Re: Amp Ideas

yeah, that's a loaded question. I assume you're talking about high gain? The v3 is a great amp. I've used EL34s and 6L6's in it. I know that Carvinites compare it to mesa, but I still think that it's not voiced the same. On the other hand, the other guy in my band has a Mesa Rect-O-Verb (single rec)...

Re: More of an AMP related question.

I own a v3 head as well. You should flip the switch on the back to el34 or 6l6 appropriately when you change the tubes. But that is just the starting point. I've read that Carvin biases them very cold. Users can bias these amps. If it is used, I would definitely rebias it or have it done professiona...

Re: Question for people in bands

hey Cnev, My band hit the same problem as you. We only practiced once a week and had 40+ songs. On top of the new songs to learn, we would also have 8-12 songs to "brush up" on every week, just to make sure that we were doing well. Some songs ended up being on the list EVERY week (ex. Metallica - Sa...

congrats! That's something I've wanted to ever since I picked up guitar. Had two opportunities for it to happen now, and they both sorta just fell through.

A Chord Problem :-\

So I've been playing for a while - and like to think I'm doing pretty good for the time spent. I'm been playing harder solos and have pretty smooth sounding barre chords and such. Anyways, one chord has been a thorn in my side ever since i started playing - the open A chord. I've been trying to play...

Re: Effects order and Amp noise... Help T.T

So are you receiving a hum or white noise kind of sound? If so, I think a noise suppressor would be a good thing. Single coiled guitars such as strats generally have more background noise than instruments with humbucker pickups in them. I have an ISP Decimator noise reduction pedal and love it. That...

Re: Have you ever been openly insulted about your playing?

The only people who've ever insulted my playing have been my friends. For about the first 6 months, they would always comment that I wasn't sounding that great. I never took it too personally, because none of them ever excelled at any music instruments or played guitar. The only time they were rock ...

i would try one first and see if you like it. If not and you need more headroom, there's plenty of amps out there with great clean channels

Re: What are you working on now?

yeah. Ain't No rest for the wicked had me skeptical at first. It was a cool song, but i thought it wouldn't sound very good live. I was very pleasantly surprised! sounds great

We might eventually do "use somebody". Seems that song is on every radio station.
