Re: The difference between cheep and expensive

Hi Joe When I buy things I normally like to spend a bit more a buy better whatever it is - it normally makes a difference to how long things last, but when I decided to try and learn to play the guitar, I thought I'd be a bit sensible and buy something that wouldn't lose me much if I decided guitar ...

Re: Hi there from Cheshire, England!

Hi Rob Ahhh, Cheshire - I used to race cars at Oulton Park. Nice beer and pub grub in Tarporley... I'm new to the board also. Learning acoustic guitar but would like to try electric one day. Congrats on your second attempt at the solo to Californication on the YouTube vid - excellent. Well done. Wel...

Re: Christianne - 1 week and no comments! Is it that bad?

Hi Guys, Phew, thanks. Nice to know someone out there is reading..... I take on board all the points and they're all valid. It just show's what a novice I am to music, songwriting and forums in general - I've never done anything like this until a couple of months ago so I'm still learning. I agree a...

Re: Horse With No Name Bridge Chords?

Ooops, well, I am a beginner in all things musical so I apologise for that wrong analagy.

Isn't a solo a sort of musical bridge anyway?

Well, if anyone knows a progression of chords that will give a simple mimic of the solo, I'd like to give it a go...

Thanks, Dylan

Horse With No Name Solo Chords?

Hi all, I'm six weeks into learning to play the guitar and coming to terms with the fact that it's not as easy other people make it look! Practice practice practice I suppose, but it is very frustrating when you make the same mistakes EVERY time you play a tune....Grrrrrr. Anyways, I digress - I'm u...

When should I fit new strings?

Hi all. A very simple question....or is it. I'm just learning and had my guitar for five weeks now, probably been bashing it for about 45 hours and have noticed that I'm getting some buzzing and tinny sounds coming from the strings which I'm sure wasn't there when I first started. They're bronze 10/...

Christianne - 1 week and no comments! Is it that bad?

Hi all, this is my ever first post here in the Songwriting Club. I've just written this song today. Haven't really polished it but have about seven versions of it on scraps of paper. I'm only one month into learning to play the guitar so haven't even thought about a score for it, but feel free to ha...

Re: Where should I be after 3 months?

Hi Kirk I have asked the same question and got the same answers. I guess some people have a natural talent/ability and others have to work at it, then there's probably a lot that just give up because they can't play a simple two chord "easy song" in a few days (hey, I know what that feels like). If ...

Dylan says Hi.....

Hi Everyone I've just bought my first guitar - well, I've had it for three weeks now. It's a Stagg 6 metal string acoustic and came with a CD that showed me which way to hold the thing and bash out some basic chords. I've got a lot to learn and this website is fantastic. I'm trying to run before I c...
