Re: Year 8 Week 38- Believe the Whispers

Hey Shady

Read the lyrics, picked up my guitar, which I haven't done for a while, played it, sung it, liked it.

Rock on!

Re: Y8 W36 - Broken Small Screen Blues

Thanks Laz... Well, there's a lot going on in this song which maybe isn't so obvious (and maybe should be made more obvious) :? The guy has busted his cell and is completely lost because he uses it for everything. The other problem is he's having a love affair, not only with his mobile phone, but wi...

Re: Beginner's videos

I can't believe I never saw this thread before. It's amazing ! One day I'll work up the courage to post a video (don't hold your breath though). I'll admit that I haven't read all 68 pages of this discussion (I read the first 20 then took a huge jump) so forgive me if this has already been said: I ...

Re: Y8 W36 - Broken Small Screen Blues

Hey Peter, yes, I think twelve bar will be easier than eight... I started playing it and immediately reverted to 12 bar anyway  Hi Vic. Thanks for the welcome....feels like I've never been away... I can see where you are with the change about the images, but I'm kinda thinking that the ...

Y8 W36 - Broken Small Screen Blues

Hi all.... How y'all doing? Things are a bit quiet at work so gave me an ideal opportunity to exercise my song-writing fingers.... Ok, now I'm not well up on playing blues progressions so bear with me... I've written this as an 8 bar, but I reckon it could be reworked to 12 if needed - I thin...

Re: Beginner's videos

While the mic is working - sort of - this is what I've been up to the last year or so. So: still the same songs as before, with the same mistakes and same frustrations. I didn't realise when I started up playing guitar again that progress would be so slow. A haunting medley of classics performed wi...

Re: Guitar and Amp Input Jacks - Stereo or Mono?

Hey, thanks for the quick reply... Ok, I thought that was the case as my leads are all mono jacks. But I can use a lead with a stereo jack if I had one? I mean...it will work the same? I have heard that stereo jacks actually have a better grip in the socket than a mono, but that just what I've heard...

Guitar and Amp Input Jacks - Stereo or Mono?

Hi all

Can anyone tell me whether all guitar jack sockets are mono or stereo, or can they be either?

How can I tell whether mine is mono or stereo?

And what about the amps?

Thanks

Rock on!

Re: Y8W10 Why Not?

Nice one James.

The Beatles meets the Kinks, with a bit of Foo Fighters thrown in for good measure....

There's just one drum roll I'd get rid of, but groovy baby.

Rock on!

Re: Y8W11 Rain

Hey James Not sure what's going on in the second verse, but overall a pretty little ditty and very pleasant to listen to... (a little short for you though   although I've been away for a while) I felt you were struggling vocally with the bridge/chorus although the words work well... Rain...

Re: Y8 Week 11 - You're Not Around

Thanks James, good to be back.... :D Some good thoughts and ideas. I agree with most, some I think work better when sung than written. Don't think I'd like to tie it down to a graphical location - people in most continents use bad grammar  so they'd relate to what's being said. Thanks, and Roc...

Re: Y8 Week 11 - Your Not Around

OK, let's get the nit-picky "Grammar Police" quibble out of the way first..... "Your not around"....."your" is a posessive pronoun. In this song, you're shortening "you are" - "you are not around," so it should read "YOU'RE not alone."      I feel extremely emba...

Y8 Week 11 - You're Not Around

Hi all Don't ask me why - it just seemed like a good time to write a song.... And yes, it's another cheery little ditty  I feel a little bit sorry for all you folks stuck in the grips of winter - panic buying, snow covered roads, moan moan moan - for crying out loud, it's bloody winter - what ...

Re: SmilGuitar and his guitar !!! (Acoustic)

Hey Brice You either got it, or you aint... You've got it - I aint, and don't reckon I ever will have  that's why I just love listening to great acoustic guitar playing - and if I close my eyes i can just imagine myself playing any one of those cool tunes.... There such a lot of talent here at...
