Re: Battle of the Virtual GN Bands

Good idea and I want to participate. Unfortunately, now I have to figure out how to record on my PC (tried it a few times, but never really got it sorted out).

Blueline - I am a NJ native (born in Bayonne & grew up in Woodbridge) ---> so, can I join your group?

Re: How was this paintjob done?!?! WOW

Not sure how this particular guitar was done, but I know that Peavey's custom shop will put just about any image you want on a guitar's front. I think you send them an image file and they tranfer it to some kind of sticker, which then gets put on the front before the clear finish. Its just a guess a...

Re: What Is The Definition Of A "Shredder"?

+1 for Dog's definition.

To me, what classifies you as a shredder is mainly: (1) a shredder has an extensive knowledge of and utilizes many scales, (3) is usually technically very proficient on the instrument, and (3) usually plays very fast and precise leads, etc.

Re: Hum coming from the bridge

It's very hard to make a diagnosis without actually getting to look at the guitar. Could be caused by a number of different things.

Best bet is to take it to a tech to check it over - well worth the cost.

Re: Blues music recommendations wanted

Here is another suggestion and its free. If you have iTunes on your PC, go over to their online radio stations. There are various categories (rock, classical, etc.). There is a Blues category - click into there and you will get non-stop blues. I often listen and "discover" guys I never heard of, jus...

Re: HAHAHAA my uncle knows NOTHING about guitars...

but what the uncle did or didn't do has no bearing whatsoever on the morality of Afo's actions. it doesn't lessen his/her crassness in ripping his family off, and it doesn't lessen the crassness of bragging about it on here. if you can justify an immoral act on the basis that other immoral acts hav...

Yeah, I agree with Boxboy.

You are pleased that you ripped off your uncle? What you did was, in my opinion, a pretty low thing to do to a relative - or even a stranger. Shame on you. I am surprised you are gloating here - you haven't impressed anyone.

Roy, if you really want to nail the David Gilour sound, here is what you need - and it isn't cheap!

I don't own a set, but have heard a friend's and it sounds great - but, only with a cranked amp.

Re: Another statement needs to be made !

Nope, sadly I returned it. It was beautiful, I found a few issues with it and sent it back. I wasn't thrilled with the pickups in it too.

I replaced it with this, and got a P90 LP w/ very nice pickups for a much cheaper price:

Re: What came first, the chicken or the egg?

Hard to say, for me. Just as I was starting out learning to play, SRV hit the scene. I became a fan of his and the blues. I was also learning about the blues in lessons. So, for me the chicken came WITH the egg.

Re: Guitar Stores in Denver-Colorado Springs

I live in Colorado Springs. If you are going to be in this city, I would suggest you check out Tejon Street Music - it has a really nice assortment of guitars, banjos, madolins, etc. Not an electric guitar store though. Also check out the Music Exchange. Both stores are downtown and are within a dec...

It (Guitar Hero) gave both of my boys the "itch" to learn how to play a real guitar, so it can be all bad!
