Re: Just thought I'd check in....

I am also just checking in, in response to your FB post.....I haven't played in months, even before that not seriously for ages. I just picked up an acoustic and my fingers hurt after 5 mins  . I'm surrounded by encouragement and inspiration (the MD/owner of the company I work for is a keen an...

Re: Meet the family

The Yamaha Guitalele is a heap of fun. The Gordon Smith is a gem. Latest addition to the family is a Blackstar HT1 amp - which sounds tremendous with the gs. What a great little amp for home use. Finally got the kind of amp I wanted - valve, small, managable at low volume with a big tone but with op...

Re: Meet the family

I think the guitar you mean is the Gordon Smith - in order to avoid confusion, from left to right is the Yamaha GL1 guitalele, Squier VM Jaguar Bass, Gordon Smith GS1.5/40, Yamaha FG 403 MS acoustic and in front a Clearwater Bowl back Tenor Electro Ukelele.

Meet the family

Well, seeing as I have returned to the forum I thought I'd introduce my newly expanded family-I went down to the one guitar (the Gordon Smith in the centre, my honey) but recently have raided ebay for some bargains - the roll call is; Gordon Smith GS1.5/40 (only one ever made as far as I know), Squi...

Getting the band back together.....

OK, been away fro a good long while having a bit of a personal odyssey-some good some not so good. Not played properly in ages and sold a lot of gear, pretty much everything save my Gordon Smith (NEVER going to sell this). Now I feel the need again so picking up, dusting off and starting all over ag...

Happy New Year

Just a quick one, not been round for a while. Happy New Year to all at GN, been an eventful and often not great one for me but things are on the up now, great new job, moved to London (most of the time anyway - 'Home' will always be the north while I am working down there) which is all going well. N...

Re: Rocksmith is out today!

I got this for Christmas (well I did get it early but it was a present LOL), it is accurate, and some people have reported issues with a timelag, but this is to do with the type of tv you have, you can easily get around it - you just need to connect it to an external sound system instead. I played ...

Re: Fabulous UK guitarist.

Ive seen her play at a guitar show and she blew the room away. Had a chat with her afterwards and she was really lovely and friendly, I have emailed her a couple of times too - and had replies! when her album came out I pre ordered it and she signed the first few hundred I think. She has played with...

Re: What song are you learning right now?

trying to learn 'The Needle and the Damage Done' (Neil Young), 'Norweigan Wood', and 'Here Comes the Sun' (The Beatles), in a kind of mixed strummy/picky chord melody kind of way. Its towards the limits of my ability at the moment - been playing for a couple of years. Usually find that around coupl...

Re: What song are you learning right now?

Currently im trying to get round 'dreamers ball' by queen and '2 minutes to midnight' by Iron maiden. Oh, and 'time in a bottle' by Jim Croce, though having seen the movie 'hangover 2' I cannot quite look at that song in the same light again.......

RIP Clarence Big Man Clemons

A sax player not a guitarist I know - but all the same an iconic and irreplaceable musician, one of those guys who you knew who it was as soon as they started to play and the heart of the E street band. I was never a fan of Bruce Springsteen but nevertheless I knew who Clarence Clemons was - most pe...

Happy birthday to Mr Vic Lewis. Maybe now we are practically neighbours, having moved to sunny Newton le willows myself, we can get going on the jamming again!
