Re: Introducing band members

I've seen many bands that have another person speak up after the frontman has introduced everyone, and say something like

"...And up front singing for y'all is our very own (insert joke here).. ThreeGTRZ!!!... Let's hear it for him!!" etc, etc.

Re: What Model Of Guitar is this?

Samick are usually an inexpensive Japanese brand. The quality will vary greatly from one guitar to the next. If you can try it before you buy, and if the price is not very high, then it might be a good starter guitar. I don't know about upgrades, but the hardware is pro ally pretty low end. If the n...

Re: Guitar face believers......?

Joe Walsh is playing (on what honestly looks like an $89 Squier Bullet) with James Taylor right now. If you've never actually seen Joe Walsh play, you're really missing out on some great Guitar Face. It's this show, isn't it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKw-NpEQOZo (Joe wanders in after a minute...

Re: Rocksmith is out today!

The USB converter seems to be pretty good for picking up single notes but pretty crappy for chords. Also the timing is very forgiving, especially with chords. I wonder if the note recognition "magic" is in the USB device, or in the software? If it's in the hardware, then it should be relatively str...

Re: What's it worth?

Hard to tell. Gruhn's is selling this one: EZ5157 Hagstrom HG-800 mid 1970s EXC, two humbucking pickups, replacement bridge, missing trem arm, three-tone sunburst finish, HC for $550 There's a few different models on E-bay right now, asking wildly varying prices. Like everything, it'll depend on wha...

Re: Wrist and Thumb pain !

I'm now mixing up my practice sessions with a smaller amount of time spent on individual techniques that my barring etc will eventually become less of an effort and thepain will go away.... That's what I'm hoping anyway ! I'm no expert, but that sounds like a good strategy. Take your practice in se...

Re: Testing the audio accuracy in your room?

Based on what I've heard of and seen (apply salt as necessary), I would expect using a spectrum analyzer and a high quality microphone to measure various locations in the room, while playing a broad-spectrum sound, usually white or pink noise. The setups I have seen have the noise generator and anal...

Do they at least give significant scratch-n-dent discounts?
If it's just cosmetic stuff, I wouldn't be offended.

Re: "Shaker" sound buzz

I wonder if there's a loose / cracked / poorly glued brace.
Or maybe a wire that's vibrating/resonating against the innards of the guitar?

Do you have a small mirror and flashlight that you can use to look around inside?

Re: Google Trends Christmas Spike

It also seems that less people are getting their first guitar for Christmas as the years go on. I wonder what might reverse this trend? Perhaps a folk revival in pop culture? Or an ... Idol/ ... got talent winner who plays a simple guitar part on-stage? Or maybe a global re-awakening to learning ski...
