Re: New Amp Problem

All other things being equal, to be twice as loud as a 10 W amp, you're going to have to go up to 100W. You're also going from a few pounds to something that should be moved by a fork-lift. If you can find a good 30W with 2 12" speakers, you should be set for most situations. As others have said, on...

Re: Vintage Antoria?

Do a google search on "antoria serial numbers" and you'll get links to more sites than you're ever going to read. Old Antorias seem to have been made by Ibanez in Japan. Antorias first arrived in the UK in the 50's, I've no idea if they existed as far back as '44. They could, of course, have been so...

Re: Sticky Neck - Lighter Fluid?

If this guy is so acidic, you are going to have to find out exactly how bad it is. Get something to test the pH level, then find an alkali that is going to neutralise his sweat.

Re: List of Audacity settings....

Vic, most laptops have a bult-in mike and speakers. Windows also has a recording software (in Accessories, I think). Try recording your voice via this route. It will tell you if the problem lies with audacity or the laptop. If that is fuzzy, playing an mp3 will tell you if the speakers are OK. Other...

Re: More on scales and modes

Tonic comes from the word "tone", so maybe the first degree of a scale is its "tone-ic" base/origin.

Anyone who invents words like "abstrically" and "oitch" shouldn't be take too seriously.

Re: Floating Tremelo

First thing to try is lubricating the nut. Your strings may be binding in the slots. If you can find a piece of graphite, use that. If not, a pencil will do - the softer the better. A pencil lead is not pure graphite, it is a mixture of graphite and clay, which is not a lubricant. The harder the pen...

Re: All Of Those Old Records Have Mistakes On Them

Well, my initial thought was that a click track was probably first used on multi-track tape, wider than 1/4". You lose too much of the recording capability by dedicating 1 track on 1/4" tape. I would have suspected that, up to that point, a metronome had been used. I found a Wikipedia entry for "cli...
