Re: Anybody played with one of these...

Hybrid amps can be great (I've heard tons of good things about those Vox amps already mentioned), my comment was mostly driven by the statement I found on the FAQ page that "The Little Lanilei 3350LT is all tube." when it clearly is not. If in communicating with them directly they've been straightfo...

Re: Anybody played with one of these...

I just want to say that I suspect this amp is a hybrid, just based on the fact that all that's there for tubes is a 12au7 and a 12ax7, and they're claiming 33W or 50W depending on model. (No way is a 12ax7 giving 33 or 50 W.) Probably what they're doing is using the two tubes as preamp stages (even ...

Re: Little Wing Intro & verse

Yes, it's on a Strat, but you're right, I didn't hit the whammy bar much. Just gave it a little tweak after the chord sliding bit, and a bit on the harmonics at the end. Pretty light though.

Little Wing Intro & verse

Hi all, haven't recorded much for quite some time, so just thought I'd record what I've been playing lately. Comments welcome, and hope you like it. On my dmusic page http://timezone.dmusic.com/ at the top. (I've never figured out how to link a single song from dmusic, anyone know how?)

Re: Anyone else get this PM?

I think the story of the P-P-P-PowerBook is my favourite "scam the scammer" story. Awesome. (Not that I condone such behaviour, of course. But I sure do get a chuckle reading about it.)

Re: John Mayer

I don't like John Mayer's solo stuff very much either. (Your Body is a Wonderland, ugh. Got waay too much airplay.) But when he started doing his trio thing I liked him much better. I sort of get the sense that blues is what he really likes, but the pop songs pay the rent better. Is he really shakin...

Re: Metallica's new material

s'alright. Better than St Anger was. My favourite is probably the Black Album, although I highly enjoyed S&M too (though you may or may not count that one since it wasn't new material). I don't have Load or Reload but from what I've heard of those albums, I'd like them too. Hammett seems to be tryin...

Re: fender-like tube amp with the most clean head room?

I have never played one, but I've heard that the '60s-'70s Fender Princeton amps (non reverb version) are like the ultimate clean tone. The silverface (70s) ones can be had in the realm of $800 or so. Make sure you do your research before pulling the trigger on one, as with any used / vintage equipm...

Re: Worst Cover Song

Phish doing Great Gig in the Sky by Pink Floyd. I'm sorry Trey, you just can't do those vocals. I remember being all excited when I found that bootleg of Phish doing Dark Side of the Moon (I'm a big Floyd fan as well as a big Phish phan), but man, it just sucked horribly.

Re: Computer NERD needed

Hey Nick you've seen the movie office space? Did you get the memo? On-topic - I'm a huge geek and still prefer to buy my CDs physically. Is everyone aware that most digital sales (ie MP3, AAC, WMV) are lossy codecs? They don't sound as good as CD quality. Also, I view the file formats as basically ...

Re: I ruined my guitar...

You probably either didn't connect something that needed to be connected, or you accidently grounded something that shouldn't have been, such that all the signal ends up going straight to ground rather than to the amp. If you don't have a multimeter, this may be difficult to diagnose. All we can rea...

Re: Other than guitar what do you play, or would like to?

I only really play and practice guitar. Though I have a couple of harmonicas / harps, as others have mentioned. Actually I did that just before picking up guitar. I was sort of just trying to see if I liked making music enough to pick up a guitar, and a harp was cheaper than a guitar. Since I got th...

Re: Really Need Some Advice

So I missed this thread until now, but congrats, MetallicaMan! I would have posted something along the lines of "you're probably all good, it sounds like you're on good terms with the shop, and they've been giving you receipts and stuff, so just stay in touch with the dudes, and it'll probably be fi...

Re: Favorite Picks?

OK, so about never having picks that wear out... I guess I lied. Some of the picks that I've tried have worn out, but never the ones I ended up sticking with (the Dunlop Jazztones and the Dugain). I did try the planet waves grip ones which I kind of liked, but after a while, the things actually snap...
