Thank you for the response, just a few details: a) Again, it's not as if I can go into a store an try out several pairs of headphones. They don't really do that here. The closest thing a lot of stores have is a lenient return policy, I think. b) I think that the HD 500s are awsome likely due to the ...

AKA this my new corrected question. Thanks. You shouldn't mix with headphones in the first place, your sennheisers are good for monitoring and editing single tracks. Use monitors for the final mix. Alrightee. Are you knowledgeable of the HD 500 in terms of monitoring ? There is no mention of monitor...

Okay -- I'm pretty picky about level and balance in my mixes, and most newbies will not be. So as Arjen says, don't worry about it; you have to start somewhere. In case this was loss in my long post above: If you like the headphones, keep 'em. Don't let a reviewer dictate to your "tastes." Thanks f...

My Hopefully Last Headphone Thread

Yup, third one, and hopefully the last for a while. My dad got me a pair of Sennheiser HD 500 headphones when I told him that him that the HD 433 that he bought me before wouldn't be good for what I plan to use it for (monitoring, just basic home studio stuff with my m-audio rig.) These are a lot be...

Thos eGrados seem good :)

Just a quickie: are they meant for recording and/or mixing? It's simply the lack of the term monitor, mention of those neo-whatever-magnets and two-sided cord make them seem like standard "biased" media headphones.

Between These Three Headphones.....

I misjudged how much money I could spend on monitors in my last help me choose monitors thread:( To the point where Gators, any decent Sennheisers, etc. are out of the picture. I've found three brand monitors that are still in my price range. Anyone want to rank these three (obviously from one to th...

XLR vs. Mic-In

I've purchased an interface (M Audio PreUsb) that has both xlr and mic-in inputs. I plan on using an old Pearl dynamic microphone that I got for (if I recall correctly) $25 CND with it. Right now I have a 1/4" mic cable for it. However, I know that there is a slight difference between that the xlr i...

I considered the 0404. I considered the Samson C01u again. I considered getting an Audio Buddy pre-amp and running that through a cheap yet 24-bit Creative soundcard. Then, I spotted something on eBay. A used PreUSB (the older blue model, but I think it has the same hardware.) So I get the ability t...

Quick Suggestions Requested

I am looking for an audio interface for my computer. I would like to be able to record my acoustic guitar straight with going through a mixer or preamp. That having been said, I have a "watched" eBay item ending soon that I think I'll purhcase unless I get any suggestions (a Samson C01u usb condense...

Audio interface Decision-Suggestions Requested

I am deciding between getting an M Audio Fast Track or a Samson C01u microphone (a condensor microphone that conntects directly via usb.) Any suggestions? On one hand, the c01u option might be limited a choice if I want to purchase a different microphone in the future, and it can't really be used on...

I think I'll try to see if I can try out some Sennehiser's to see if the benefits outwiegh some of the cons on them. I'll also look into AKG. About the Sonys, I think that the DJ series seems to be really good in terms of form factor. But for some reason, depsite how it's been mentioned that they're...
