Re: Starting over .. again

Thanks Dave.. I remember seeing the link but keep forgetting to listen to the podcasts. I will check them out and hopefully get through my strumming issues.

And Happy New Year to you as well.

Re: Starting over .. again

I have been looking over the easy songs for beginners and my problem with horse with no name is more about the strumming than the chord changes. The only chord I have a hard time fretting is the F chord/barre chords in general. My chord changing is also slow but manageable for most songs I have been...

Re: Finger Stretching

Thanks I have been doing as much on the guitar as possible and was looking more for items that I may be able to do off the guitar when I am at work and unable to practice on a fret board.

Finger Stretching

Are there any recommended finger stretching exercises for beginners during their practicing? I have recently gotten back into playing after a couple year hiatus and using a different method for training in guitar. Unfortunately it does not have any information on stretching and I am having issues wi...

Re: Starting over .. again

Yeah I have done a lot online.. especially since my work requires me to be online for 8 hours a day. I will need to see about picking up a few books though as the material I thought I had is no where to be found. I will have to look into my library and see what they have, thanks for the idea I alway...

Starting over .. again

Well it is that time of year again.. I have let life dictate my path and in the last 9 months have let my guitar collect dust with just the occasional use. Things have settled down and so I am going to start dedicating time each day to try and get back to learning my guitar. Unfortunately the teache...

Re: Beginner's guitar

Something I will throw out.. since I have a daughter who did the same thing to me last year (at age 6 no less ).. I picked up a 1/2 size Dean off ebay for about 25 bucks plus shipping. For a small child it is actually a decent guitar. It holds the tune pretty well. I retune it about once a week afte...

Electric Guitar Cable

To my knowledge it is just called a Guitar Cable.. they range any where fro 5 to 50 dollars or more dependning on where you get them. I personally have not heard any difference in my cables but that may be because I have a low end amp as well.

Cedar and Spruce

It depends on what you like.. I would take a few strums on both to see which one you like the tone of. Both will get a little mellower with age. I have a Spruce top guitar that I love the tone.. but I recently had a chance to play a friends Seagull which had a Cedar top and it did have a slightly me...

Chipped Guitar

How big is the Chip? if it is fairly large do you have the piece that came off? If it is not that large is it noticable or does it affect the tone of your guitar? If the answer to the second question is NO on either count I would let it go if for some reason it does affect the sound then I would fin...
