I would have thought that your teacher would have shown you some pentatonic fingering positions. There are 5 'popular' ones.

I've had that problem in the past and it was because I didn't get the string lock in well enough. So I'll go along with the not seated answer.

I've seen open G fingered a couple different ways, but that's the first time I've seen it that way. The B is the 3rd and is also represented by the open B string. So maybe they prefer the higher B to stand out? I don't know. Maybe Robert Smith can't play that note? who knows? lol

You take a major triad and add a minor 7th to it.

Hey, where are all the smileys?

I don't have my guitar handy, but there are different ways to play it. Justpick out the notes of it and transpose them until you find an easier way to play it. There must also be some ways to play it with open strings.

I played a version of this song that pretty much stayed within the Am scale but used a few sweet, slow bends that gave it a nice feel. I'm sure there are many other things you can do, but I just kept it simple.

Line 6 has some pretty decent amps, but I'm not quite certain on the price. They have modeling effects which are nice. As for a PA, that is generally seperate from an amp. What are your plans? Playing live? recording? This can have a huge impact on what you want to get.

Sounds like a good price to me. A used american fat-strat (has humbuckers in bridge) should normally go for a bit more (probably closer to $800). If it's also a 50th anniversary model, then that should also up the price. Nice deal. btw- I paid $ 950 for my new american fat-strat non 50th anniversary.
