Re: Straight Neck?

The way I was taught to sight a neck is to lay the body of the guitar on a flat surface like a work bench and lift the neck to a 45 degree angle, look at the neck at the edges directly down the fretboard. it takes some practice and looking at a few different necks to see if you have any issues with ...

Re: Guitar set up

Interesting enough, guitars of different styles with the same manufacturer will have some differences as far as action. The Tele has a different bridge and I think nut than a mustang. How long have you owned it? Was it ever checked over? My best analogy as a mechanic is this. A guitar is just like a...

Re: Guitars Made For Fast Playing

It really boils down to 2 things Personal Preference Skill of Player. If I just started learning guitar and decide that cause Paul Gilbert plays this specific guitar that is what makes him play so fast. Then If I get that guitar I am going to play that fast too. No if it worked that way all guitars ...

Re: classical sitting positions for rock guitar?

Do what is comfortable for you. You will see that when you are in the "classical position" its easier to support the guitar and you have less strain while playing guitar. While it was already stated having your guitar "Slung low" for the cool factor its hard on your body, along with your wrists and ...

Re: Put on new strings, need guitar adjustment?

I bought my son the same guitar, unless the strings where changed it came with .09 string gauge but still a difference. Another thing to note is the guitar comes with a tremolo bar, aka a whammy bar, If you look at the back there is springs there to adjust the tension placed on the bridge to keep it...

Re: Trying to learn how to play the guitar.

While I am not the person to give relationship or dating advice, because I suck at relationships *ask my 2 ex wives* I will say this, be yourself, if she's not interested in the person you truly are, its a waste of time, If a woman that I was interested in said they would find me much more attractiv...

Re: How do you organize your song book?

Interesting - I just clicked the link and it said the document had been deleted Yeah I tried myself, However the post was dated for almost 8 years ago. maybe he moved onto a different format since then? I use my Ipad with an App. for Guitar Tabs. works great, I also have a notebook that's a working...

Re: Too much pick?

Forgot to Add. As Guitar Players we often focus so much on what the Fretting hand is doing we forget about the other hand. Or we are too busy working on our fretting hand we never consider the opposite hand which is doing all the picking strumming and plucking. I was Super GUILTY of this. All I want...

Re: Too much pick?

I wouldn't say too much pick, as you stated, if your applying too much pick and its causing you to push harder to get your strums complete then choke up on your pick a bit. However I will say your strumming, it seems like you are tensing up your right hand a bit. so your all but fighting the muscles...

Re: Tubescreamer alternative

The first one you posted the Xdrive pedal. sounded real muddy when heavily boosted I would just avoid it didn't sound pleasing at all. The Electroharmonix did sound very nice good bite, with nice crisp leads. I personally have a Digitech Bad Monkey Drive, which was a knock off of the TS, I got it ve...

Re: Lefty but play right-handed?

A Close friend of mine who is a incredible guitar player and primarily a bass player plays right handed and he is a lefty. He Plays right handed, but does everything else left handed. If he tries playing left handed he struggles, so he stuck with playing right handed. Unfortunately Left Handed peopl...

Re: What Lp electric should I buy ?

I have played ESP's and they are great guitars. I have heard of Chapman and have heard nothing but good things about them So I cannot speak from experience. In My Humble Opinion, if you truly are looking for a Les Paul Style Guitar, Consider Epiphone. Considering you are living in Romania I can't sp...

Re: Do you have problems dropping your pick when you play?

When I first started playing I was horrible with it, I have gotten better over time, but it happens to all of us. First thing, don't have a death grip on the pick, I had started a habit of doing this cause I got frustrated dropping picks. It made it worse because then my playing suffered. Keep a few...

Re: Help with a song.

First off welcome, and I am a huge Pearl Jam fan, Mike McCready is one of my biggest influences to learn guitar. The Intro is played on a 12 String Bass Guitar, that's why you get that bright sound. The guitars are following the bass line. and they are playing chords underneath the 2nd half of the b...

Re: How hard is it to reclaim stolen guitar at guitar center

You would have to prove ownership, Was the home burglarized or did other family members take items before you reached the home? I am sure that if you can prove that it was stolen, and that you are the actual owner of the item after he had passed there could be a agreement made. However, There is goi...
