Just because I did not see it mentioned, I would like to Add that there are Amplifiers for Acoustic guitars as well as Electric guitars and Bass Guitars. It does make a difference so Be Sure that the Amplifier you are using is Matched to the Type of Guitar you are Playing.

It sounds to me like you are Likely Gripping your Guitar too hard which in turn will cause not only Pain but Permanent Damage to your Hand and Arm. You should only use the Thumb to Hold your Guitar from moving backward when you Fret a Note or Chord. Apply Just Enough Pressure to the String to Sound ...
