Re: Help With Rhythm

First up - don't be too hard on yourself. You haven't been playing long enough to know where you will end up. Just keep at it and keep bashing away and before long, the things that seem impossible now will be within your grasp. Something you can do is just place your hand over the strings to mute th...

Re: Sore fingers!

Sounds like some sort of reaction you are having with the metal. I'd switch back to what worked. I had sore fingertips for years until someone mentioned that maple necks cause their fingers to get sore?? Never occurred to me that that could be it. I switched to rosewood and sure enough - no more sor...

Re: Basic Mode question

The important thing to understand with modes is that it is MOSTLY about the underlying chords. This isn't a 'scale' thing. If you are pounding away on a Dmin chord and the notes of your melody come from the key of C (as opposed to D or Dmin) then you are making a Dorian sound. Just playing a C scale...

Re: Difficulty playing guitars

I would recommend going to a teacher and having a face to face person help you for a bit. From what you have said it is hard to tell. You need to rule out medical considerations (again, I doubt it is this but from your wording it is hard to say)

Re: Can it be a Mental Thing?

For the most part I think MOST people can learn to play to a decent level. Most people give up because it isn't easy and many people don't realize how much time the greats actually spent at it. In my experience you are probably fine. The one thing I think you do need... and i am really not sure how ...
