It's not that it cannot be done, but it's rarely been done. One of the reasons is the limits imposed by poetry. In poetry you must have so many syllables in a line or stanza or whatever it's called. In lyrics, you can get around this by dragging a syllable so that all your lines don't need to have t...

I haven't tried the Monster myself, but I agree with the principle. Good old connectors you can't touch are the best. And anyway, plenty of cables offer 10-15 years or lifetime warranties.

If you haven't heard a difference in blind testing it's because you're not listening well enough or you're using two cables that are almost identical. Blind testing should be done repetitively. As I said above; try one for a short bit, try the next. Do it over again and again and again and... Some o...

It's not taken as curt or insulting. What I mean about impedence is that in any good cable the difference is virtually unnoticeable. Manufacturers who cite is as a selling point are doing so because they have nothing interesting to sell. As you say, different guitars and different amps will make a d...

I started off by using each cable by itself in every configuration possible; just to see what I would get straight off the bat. Later on I compared them as mentionned in the other post: playing the same bit with each cable and recording everything in 24-bit 96,000 Mhz. I used an acoustic guitar, pla...

I've just finished a lot of research on the subject for an article. Here are some of my findings: Impedence? When someone wants to sell you a cable and mentions impedence... run! That's total BS. Impedence is totally irrelevant because the differences are too small to be noticed. Shielding is import...

I once bought a $2000 BC Rich in a pawn shop for $400. And I've seen many great deals at other pawn shops. What you got to remember is that most of the staff at a pawn shop no nothing about guitars. They believe that if it doesn't say Fender or Gibson, that it's an el cheapo. That's where you can ma...

Arjen's right: you're steppin on these or stomping on them. I wouldn't trust plastics for this. The ones I use are all from Godlyke (http://www.godlyke.com); I've reviews of them in the reviews section: all metal and very solid. But these aren't the only ones (don't want to sound like an add; but th...

I'm with Arjen: take your time. Take that guitar you have and try it out with various amps and pedals. Even if you had exact copies of what the guys in Metallica have, you still wouldn't sound like them; you don't play exactly the way they do. And guess what? So what! Find your own sound. Try amps a...
