Honestly,
Not THAT bad, Even Elvis was told not to quit his day job. Get some Vocal effects, Reverb and pitch correction go along way. I use a TC helicon Mic Mechanic, before that I used to use a Hamonizer and Voice Tone Correct. I cant sing either but these get me by.

You can leave it wood but I would recommend having at the very least a lacquer or some sort of clear coat to protect the wood from wood related issues, like stains, mildew, and possible warping. I would start with the guitar and work yourself into the signal chain, you may have a resistor that went bad in one of the pedals or your power supply might not be adequate, causing a pedal to distort the signal unintentionally. +1 process of elimination is your best bet.
