Re: Finally getting a tube amp

Save the money and get a good 15W tube amp. That will be plenty enough and more than loud by the time you crank it up to even halfway. Don't believe me? Try it in your usual place where you play and just turn it up halfway. Been there, done that. Most people make the mistake of buying a big amp thin...

Re: guitar pedal opinions

For quality, true bypass, tone and price / value I would go with fulltone generally. The more expensive boutique pedals don't seem to add much on top of that except the price.

Pedal order question

I have an MXR micro amp pedal and a buffer pedal. Where would I place each of these pedals in a pedal chain assuming (a) the amp has no effects loop (b) the amp has an effects loop and (c) the main purpose of the mxr is to drive or match the signal and not primarily to boost volume.

Best cheap mixer

What would be the best mixer out there for under USD 300 preferably with usb. Also, with a mixer, if I am using powered monitors, would I still need to run the guitar through a DI box before going into the mixer? And the last question, which might be a fairly stupid one, if the guitar is going in th...

At that output, I hope your roof is bolted on and your in-laws are propping up your walls outside.

Re: What Do You Think Of Tabs?

For guitar, tab has its advantages as it is faster to read and play especially in the upper register. Having the notation is necessary for phrasing, rhythm and dynamics. There are a number of websites with guitar pro tabs. One or two sites are really good such as gprotab dot net (I didn't check to s...

Re: Recording with Guitar Rig

Thanks, guys. I downloaded the trial version of reaper to check it out first and you are correct, it did work with GR as an effect plug in. Took a while to configure the drivers because ASIO seems like a dedicated driver and can't be used when other audio programs are running. I also tried the expei...

Re: JamPlay - Free Trial

As an online resource for video guitar lessons in all genres, jamplay is about the best there is. A really good feature is the jamchat which has a live instructor on during the session. There are several sessions a day plus other members are always on. If you are stuck with something or have a quest...

Re: What Do You Think Of Tabs?

It would be more cost effective to get the guitar pro software. There are loads of free tab/notation music you can get that for it and the program is very good for learning and practising music.

Recording with Guitar Rig

I have Guitar Rig 5 and would like to record a track with it without having to input a dry signal and then applying it like an effect. I would prefer to just play what amp model I choose over a backing track and hear it in real time. Can anyone recommend what recording software would work like this ...

Re: What Do You Think Of Tabs?

Are there any good sites that you can buy music that has tab and standard notation both? I still remember some from band in highschool, and it seems having the tab also would be a good way to work things out, kinda the best of both worlds. Most non-jazz guitar music is written with both standard no...

Re: Stuck

I guess everyone is different and has his own method of madness. I have been unsuccessful at learning and memorising licks. I also find them of little use for me personally because on top of trying to remember a ton of them I then have to insert them back into a piece and try to join them in with th...

Re: What Do You Think Of Tabs?

she still concluded with "write it down for me" - just shows someone who has no *feel* for an instrument. I couldn't believe it, she had played her instrument as long as I had played mine and to me that is just a walk in the park. Depends on whether you're using written music as a crutch. People wh...

Re: What Do You Think Of Tabs?

I think tab is great especially for guitar where standard notation would contain too many ledger lines for the upper register notes (though you can write the music an octave lower but notate it to be played an octave higher). Tab makes the music much easier to play quickly. Where tab is deficient is...
