Pick Question

When I first started playing, I began with a pick that is considered "middle of the road" in regards to its stiffness. It is .73mm to be exact. However, when I started working on songs that had faster alternate strumming patterns, I wanted to try a thinner pick for those songs only. Now, I'm finding...

Re: Off to blow my Christmas money ...

Trust me, I'd love to post one. Is there a way to do it from an iPad? If so, I'm not seeing it. I'll admit, this is kind of like showing baby pictures. Strangers may not really care about your kids pictures, but you want to show them off anyway.

Re: Off to blow my Christmas money ...

Thanks for the advice all. I took a much more guitar-savvy friend with me who helped me get a great deal on a beautiful MIM Strat. Id be lying if I said that esthetics didnt play at least a small part in my decision. I also took (at least partial) advice from you all and invested in a nice Mustang a...

Off to blow my Christmas money ...

I've decided that after sticking with my lessons and practice for a whopping 9 months, I'm going to take my Christmas cash and invest in a first new guitar for myself. (I've been playing a hand-me-down Epiphone during this introductory time.) I'm 99% certain that I'm going to go with a MIM Strat or ...

Re: Finally got my Strat

Thanks for your honest reply, but based on your feedback it sounded similar to "aside from that, how was the theater Mrs. Lincoln?" It sounds like the MIM may be a more reliable option.

Re: Finally got my Strat

What are everyone thoughts on these Modern Player "aka Crafted in China" strats. I'm looking to purchase my first "real" guitar and I'm torn between one of these Modern Player Tele's or a MIM Strat. It seems like the Modern Player Tele's have a pretty wide range of tones and sounds, maybe even more ...

Re: Noob - Peavey Vs Epiphone Guitar ?

I'm kind of in the same position as the OP. I've played with a Squier Strat and a low end Epiphone for about 6 months now. I'm leaning heavily in the Strat direction, but not sure exactly where' to go. I like playing modern (and some classic) rock, and my budget is to stay below $700. I'm curious, f...

Re: JamPlay - Free Trial

This is not a paid endorsement, I promise. I just checked out the website after seeing it on this board and bought a one month membership. It's a great tool so far for a beginner for myself. It may not be as good as one on one lessons with a teacher, but if you're like myself and have a hectic, unpr...

Re: How would I play this part

My guess would be to pick each one, or do a slow strum accentuating each note. I say his because they are not directly above or below each other and are more diagonal on the tab.

Of course, I've only been playing for a year myself, so take what I just said with a large block of salt.

Re: Guitar Prodigy for iPad

I've purchased it, but for whatever reason each note I play does not always translate to the app. That could be a problem with my iRig and not the app itself, but that has turned me off to the program regardless.

Re: Hollow Body?

Thanks for all of the feedback. I definitely appreciate it.

One other question, in regards to the neck, should it be similar thickness to my other guitar (Squier) to help me get some consistently when switching between the two, or does that really matter?

Re: Hollow Body?

Pardon me for a dumb question, but what are the benefits of a thin vs chunky neck? I don't have banana hands, slo would it be safe to assume that I'd prefer a skinnier neck?

Re: Hollow Body?

Thanks for the feedback. To answer your questions, 1) currently have a Squier guitar and a Vox DA5 amp. The guitar is ok as far as I'm concerned, but I love the amp because it has a million different effects and settings I can play around with. 2) I'd like to keep the cost under $500. Most of the mu...

Hollow Body?

Hey guys, wanted to get some feedback on something and figured this place would be a great resource. I've been playing for a about a year now with a "hand me down" Squier. It's not top of he line obviously, but I'm not skilled/worthy enough to notice the difference between that and a high-end model....
