Amp Confusion

I have several amps that I love. I have one that I almost sold recently. I used it last night at a gig and fell in love with it again. I took down my Craig's List ad and now can't wait to use it again. Why am I so confused about amps and my sound? Seems like I go from amp to amp... searching for som...

Anyone play it straight... no pedals.

Back in the day there were no pedals. They just had their amps to make their sounds.

Anyone do that now?

Super Champ XD Line Out

What can I do with the line out of my Super Champ XD. Can I go into the front input of my Deluxe Reverb Reissue. Will it do any damage?

The goal is to make the great sounding Super Champ louder.

Thanks for your help!

Eric Clapton?

I grew up with Eric Clapton. He turned me on to much of my first blues and I tried to learn more Clapton licks than anyone else. But in the long run, I wonder what his legacy actually will be. IMHO he's far from being the best blues guitarist around. I wouldn't put him in the top 20 even all-time. Y...

Finding a Great Drummer?

I was talking to some players just last night at a blues jam about this very subject. I won’t name names but we all agreed that when we go to a jam the worst thing that can happen is to get stuck playing with a lousy drummer. And it’s not usually about their chops. Many drummers can play their drums...

Teaching band members a song...

It took me a while to realize that when someone listens to a piece of music they don’t necessarily hear the same things I do. I learned this fact when I gave bandmates a piece of music to learn by listening to it. They didn’t always hear the same details in the song. Things like dynamics, rhythm acc...

Headstock tuners?

What are the best headstock tuners (or whatever they are called)? And are they as good as electronic tuners?

Re: lead guitar question

I really wouldn't worry about details like finger position yet. Keep it fun and musical and the details will come eventually. Everyone learns differently too. Detail oriented people like to learn from the details. While more intuitive, feel people just like to "play" the guitar. The real point is yo...

Re: Beginners blues

I think keeping your motivation is key. If you feel you are just going through the motions you'll just be spinning your wheels and won't get anywhere. I'd ask... what are your goals? Why do you want to play guitar anyways? If it's to accompany yourself while you sing, that's a different goal than be...

Fender's 5 Year Warranty

I've had Fender Super Champ for about 4 and half years now. It just started making some noise so I took it into the shop just to have it checked out. I figured it just needed new tubes (I'd never changed them). Anyways they said there was a problem with the DSP board. They don't make my XD model any...

Nashville Blues?

Just went up to Nashville this past weekend. I was dropping my daughter off at MTSU where she's going to be going to school. Anyway, I went into Nashville for the first time and was pretty blown away. It was a Sunday afternoon, and down on Broadway near the Ryman, there were clubs galore, all with a...

Re: The difference between a guitar player and a musician.

Boy I leave you guys and gals for a while and all hell breaks lose... just kidding. My point was certainly not "anti-shredding"... shredding is fine if it fits the song. My real point was if the guitarist is not playing what works in the song, then they are just showing off and not being a "musician...

Live concerts that are just like the record

Personally I don't get it. Why would I want to go to a show and see the songs played just like the record? What's the point? When I got to a show I want to see some creativity and maybe a little danger. You know... the lead parts maybe a bit different. And maybe taken to another level. The vocalist ...
