Re: Volume cuts out

well then find a schematic for your amp and check your plate resistor with a mulimeter. if you get outrageous resistance then its probably gone bad

i would also remove and reseat the tube a couple times to get rid of any gunk.

Re: high E string noise

Hi percyguitar I am a student in South Africa and I'm looking for advice on a new electric I want to buy. I'm sorry if I'm troubling you, but I really would appreciate it a lot. I had the same problem as you and coming across this post, you seem like a reliable source! I saw an Ibanez which is of c...

Re: Getting punk sound from a strat

for hardcore punk.. you'll probably want to boost the gain on that fender amp, and run the mids and treble a little higher.

Re: Guitar noise help

I would start with the guitar and work yourself into the signal chain, you may have a resistor that went bad in one of the pedals or your power supply might not be adequate, causing a pedal to distort the signal unintentionally.

Re: Guitar noise help

sounds like a dirty power situation and/or lower quality power supplies. you could invest in a power conditioner (which would take away a lot of the noise, so that all your pedals couldnt pick it up and amplify it in the first place). running that many pedals in the first place is going to create a ...

Re: The Age Old "Hum of Unknown Origin" Please Help.

could be a bad resistor in the circuit chain. or it could be ground interference. i never have to deal with this problem because every one of my amps is an old randall which have 3 way switches to reverse ground hum. did you get any new appliances in the house lately? are you running something else ...

Re: Do you use compression?

i used to play on a hartke VX3500. that was my only experience with compression. other than a safeguard for the speakers when it comes to accidents i didnt really find it musically useful. now i play on vintage randall bass stuff. and i seem to do just fine, plus i play a bunch of technical stuff (i...

Re: Why is there no blues chord family?..

because musically, it only differs from the minor pentatonic by 1 note. the blues scale never existed until as of late (im talking relatively). so in the case of standard western music, it doesnt technically exist. that's the explanation i can provide.. that and if i were ever done the scale would n...
