For that amount of increase in price, I would suggest hands on playing. You might also consider used instruments in your area and try them out too. I own a 12 string Breedlove Passport. Has anyone tried Rohrbacher titanium strings? They are a little pricey, but are suppose to have the life of coated strings. I am enjoying the brightness of silk & steel over the coated strings but they have longevity issues. Lasting a long time is secondary to having the sound that one desires. I'd ...

Thanks for the reply. The silk & steel are working very well for my parlor guitar. I'll just have to see if I like the sound on others. It really is about choices.

For the past couple years I have been using Elixar and D'Addario coated 80/20 strings. Last summer I replaced these on my parlor guitar with silk and steel Martin strings.
