Re: Question on practicing guitar

Continue with the routine - concentrating on one area at the expense of the others only brings limited improvement

Re: Modifying an Ibanez RG120

Everything except changing the finish is a matter of buying the right stuff, following the instructions to the letter and not rushing it. I don't know how you're going to deal with the finish.

You can buy a new guitar for less money than the cost of the mods you're looking to make.

Re: Greetings ! Ibanez piccolo guitar.

Well, everything's tuned up a 4th, so play E-shape and you'll get A-something. Play B-shape and you'll get E-something

Re: using whole tone in rock

It's going to work more in a Jazz context. Look for chords with -#11 or -b13 suffixes

Re: What guitar technique is used in this video?

Violining - volume down to zero, play your note/chord, volume up steadily (don't just ram it back to 10 because you want steady volume swell)

Re: What is the effect pedal used by the guitarist?

He could easily be using a pedal to record a loop (as Ed Sheeran does live), or the band could be miming to their final mix complete with overdubs

Re: first time ^^

The Sunday Songwriters board exists to accept individual responses to a theme - as your lyrics don't seem to fit a SSG theme I've moved it to the Songwriting Club board.

Re: Bass Guitars Comparision

I'm not a bassist; not in the slightest. I have a Yamaha - it came as part of a starter pack

It's inexpensive, comes with zero hype, and I've gigged it successfully.

Re: What scale would I play over this chord?

For the Bb+ chord it's time to start tinkering with the G major scale and start focussing on chord tones. I'd be looking to emphasise G (in the G chord), F# (in the Bb+) to F natural (in the Dm) followed by G# (in the E7), G natural (in C) and finishing with F# (in D) to give a pair of chromatic mov...

Re: Is it possible to play an electric guitar like a classical one?

Yes, and I regularly do so when warming up. I've also been known to play my Les Paul with my fingers at Big Band gigs. Mark Knopfler always used his fingers, and that riff from Smoke On The Water was played with the fingers (according to Total Guitar magazine). The only real problem is that the elec...

Re: Guitar vs guitalele - which is easier for beginners?

Start with the guitar. These fad instruments are ok so long as the fad lasts, but the guitar is the only instrument that is present in every form of music on the planet.
