Re: Fixing a dull spot on my guitar

No, don't try fixing the autograph. It's worth more "faded" than "bodged"

I think we can all use this as an object lesson - stuff you use to polish your car is ok with your hunk of metal in the garage, but will mess up your substantially more delicate axe

Re: Free pdf. guitar songs

Depends what you're after.

Classclef.com has loads of free guitar music in pdf but it's for solo guitar - lots of folk stuff, lots of classical.

If you're after songs you hear on the radio then you're going to need to buy the book or use somewhere like guitaretab.com for "Tabs of varying quality"

Re: Double Truss Rod

The double truss rod system is there to deal with the highly increased tension placed on the neck by the increased number of strings. It's not a case of "which one does what" - they combine to do the one job.

Yes, you may have to adjust both.

Yes, you may have to adjust them by different amounts

Re: Good Materials and Methods for learning the basics of Guitar and visualizing the fretboard?

Start with the Juan Martin book. Also - Gerhard Graf-Martinez has an excellent two-book two-DVD tutor series. Subscribe to the "Nuestro Flemanco" podcast from RTVE (available at rvte.es or iTunes) - if (like me) you can't speak Spanish then you're getting it just for the music. And watch as much as ...

Re: Guitar Exams (need some clarification)

Well, the big question is how have you been learning? There are Grades for Classical Guitar - my top-flight students take London College of Music Classical Guitar Grade Exams, and there are other UK examining boards offering classical guitar grade exams - the Associated Boards of the Royal Schools o...

Re: Intonation at the first fret

There's nothing wrong with the nut. Lower the bridge if you want to adjust the ride height. Intonation and exact pitch has in truth been lost to us sincethe 18th century. The distance in sound of one semitone is 114 cents but to avoid some "odd" sound intervals the equal temperament we use today has...

Re: Help a noobie with fingerpicking...?

Look at the fingering instructions in your music and follow them religiously (the p-I-m-a stuff). Once you're comfortable with those basics then you can start working on what might be more workable for you
