Re: Going back to playing guitar

As for a Floyd Rose, don't buy it if the guitar is cheaper than $500. Try to find used guitar in good condition, but ask a more experienced friend to help you check it. About an amp, I would suggest any modelling amp that fits your budget. Don't buy big complex processor (like pod HD500) until you k...

Re: Amp Advice - Newbie

Frankly speaking, it doesn't matter what amp do you choose. It must have 'cd/aux in' and model a range of sounds from clean to metal, that's all. I wouldn't care how good the amp is at modelling, it should just get you started. After a couple of years you'll know better what do you need, anyway. Con...

Technical problem with a floating bridge

Hi everyone! I have a G&L Legacy Tribute guitar, and it has a problem with the bridge. If I push the handle down, the bridge stays down - not as much as I pressed, but anyway. If I pull the handle up, the bridge stays up. It feels like it moves rather freely a little bit around normal position, maki...

Re: Which song are you learning right now?

Before, I spent a lot of time learning solos, practicing techniques, doing exercises. Well, these days I have less time to play as I have a bigger family, etc. So, I decided I could learn one song a month, mostly rhythm parts, to play from beginning to end. Some songs would be children songs. This w...

In Pelham Blue, what does 'Pelham' stands for?

Hi everyone!

I've seen an announce about new Joe Bonamassa Epiphone Les Paul in Pelham Blue color. The color is used with other models from time to time, and I'm wondering what 'Pelham' stands for?

Thanks!

Re: Got a ukulele

Thanks guys! The uke is new one, so finish should be there. It's just like natural wood when you touch it. I'll check a nearest music store for a wax.

Re: Got a ukulele

Thanks for the reply. A price is not a question. The uke is important for me because it's a gift from a good friend, sent right from Hawaii to Russia :) So I want it survive in the dry air we have in the house in winter time.

Got a ukulele

Hi everyone,

I've got a ukulele recently as a gift. It's a Kohala K3-C (http://kohalaukes.com/ukuleles/k3-c/). I've had only elecric guitars until now, so I have a question. The wood looks unfinished. Is it a good idea to treat the whole instrument with a lemon oil?

Thanks!

Re: BIAS and iPad

I use a separate processor (POD HD500 at home, Pocket POD Express when I travel), so I don't need the iPad to simulate guitar amps or effects. However, I do use Anytune Pro+ app to play backing tracks at various speeds. The app is perfect for changing speed of an mp3 file and for EQing a guitar out ...

Thanks everyone! Seems like I should make speed increases smaller, but push myself more often. Will try.

Re: Digitech GNX3000 vs RP355

I can't compare those two units directly, but I have strong computer background, so here are my two cents: All those digital things, starting from some level, have a digital interface that serves three purposes: 1) Use a device for recording; 2) Work with presets (store, backup, edit); 3) Update the...

Re: To slow down... or not to slow down?

Thanks! If I spent some time playing accurately, how much should I increase the speed? If I play comfortably at, say, 80 bpm, then go to 85 bpm, what if I still play fine? Should I increase the speed even more? One day I can play comfortably at 85 bpm, then 80 bpm again.

To slow down... or not to slow down?

Hi fellow players! I tried to play a couple of songs lately, and I found it useful to slow down a backing track (or a complete song) to play along with. it is useful for me, because I can concentrate on the notes I play, I can follow the song, I can work on cleanliness of my playing... That's all go...
