Re: Slap setup- what should i change?

For what its worth, the last time I was in guitar center the sales rep recommended the Regular Light Top/Meds Bottom D'Addario strings- http://www.daddario.com/DADProdDetail.a ... Class=ACBA -as a better alternative for slapping than the regular light gauge I currently use.

Re: Raising Action

Hey thanks for the feedback guys. The Sadowsky site was a big help. I'm still not sure I did it properly. If all the saddles should be at around the same height once I set the E, or if they should descend slightly from the E, or if its all a matter of preference, and is there any issue with setting ...

Raising Action

Hey. So I play P-bass strung lefty. I've had it setup a couple of times after I've notice excessive buzzing, and it usually plays great for a while afterwards. Lately when I play the 2nd fret on the D string it sounds dead. I mentioned it to my guitarist, and he seems to think that the action is too...

Repair question

So the other day, while playing, one of the long screws that attaches to the saddles on my P-bass fell out. I was able to find it and the spring, but I don't know how far into the saddle to screw it or how to check if i did it right.

Any advice?

Re: Eastwood and Italia

How do you feel about the quality? Just from the their aesthetic I thought they'd be over $1000, and since they're not I assumed that takes their quality into question.

Eastwood and Italia

I was hoping to get some feedback as to the quality of the Eastwood and Italia basses. They look pretty cool, but their prices seem too reasonable. Am I just being cynical? Supplemental question: Is a 30 1/2" scale (as on a few the eastwood bases) considered short scale or does it still count as sta...

Awesome. Good looking out slej.

Its rare finding used leftys, I might've gotten a little ahead of myself.

Would I be a fool to pass this up?

I came across a lefty 1983 Vantage 725BLH. Never actually heard of vantage before, and I'm seeing a lot of conflicting opinions regarding quality. Seller says it collectible. Asking price $400, will try to bring it down a little. Too good to pass up or not worth the trouble? http://upload2.postimage...

100 bucks? That served on a silver platter? Even with strings that seems high. That was the cost without new strings! I keep going back to this place in spite of the fact that they're constantly over charging. Its a small independent shop, I got my first guitars there, the place has a lot of histor...

Yet another setup inquiry

I had my bass for a little over a year and I recently brought it in for a setup. It needed one badly; the action on the D string suddenly dropped so low that I couldn't get a discernible sound out of it. The thing that struck me as odd when I brought it in was the cost. After taxes, the setup set me...

Thanks for the advice guys. I guess I'll just take it in. I was hopin it would be an easy fix, or maybe an issue with my playing.

By the way, I forgot to mention that its a righty that I had converted to a lefty; could that be whats doint it?

Seeing as how you posted this several months ago, I don't know if it still applies. However, some schools offer relatively specialized majors like entertainment marketing. Other than that you can take a business major like marketing or management and supplement it with something like a music minor. ...

String Buzzing

I guess this could be a question for the guitar section as well, but it pertains to my bass.

I've been getting string buzzing on the E and A strings, particularly high up on the neck. Is there anything I can do about that?
