Re: Difficulty w/ Bass scale length...

I have 2, 34" scale basses and they play so totally different. One is a Double cut away "fender/ibanez style". The feel of it is comfortable/normal. The double cuts run up by the neck. The other bass is more of a v style bass and has body extension beyond the bridge making the body really long and I...

Re: Long scale strings on short scale bass?

Quite the opposite. The longer scale strings have more tension and they are tighter on the short scale, IMO. I have an Eastwood Rocket and tried short scale strings only to find they were terribly floppy. Putting some long scale strings on seemed to be my perfect solution. By the by, I installed fla...

Re: What is your Holy Grail?

I learned to sing well by singing along to the Beatles 62-66. If I could play the guitar along with as well, I'd be feeling a holy something or another.

Re: DiMarzio or no...

Your perception of the sound difference will all depend on what guitar you have now (ie. the body wood, neck wood, fretboard wood, pickups currently installed, type of string <wind, guage, etc.>) You'll probably put the pickups in and then totally change your eq on guitar and amp and other amp setti...

Re: Pregnant on Bass

congratulations on the babies. I honestly don't know 100% on the safety of the kids. I doubt the noise level would be in any way damaging to the babies. Like you said, have her a chair to rest occasionally and make sure she has ear plugs. Hopefully, it is a smoke free environment.

Re: Teisco/Silvertone parts?

The only place I have found any parts is ebay for an old Teisco body I have. The key thing IMO is the condition of the neck. Is there fretboard wear, will it need refretting, or maybe a new fretboard? It's a bolt on, but the Teisco neck pocket is more narrow than a Fender neck, so a replacement neck...

Re: guitar effect???

well at least the bass freqs and the guitar are fairly distinguishable. Usually in modern music the bass is getting lost due to the guitar being tuned down and having the lows turned up. My mind is a muffler has good bass and then the guitar sounds like a mosquito attack.

Thanks BluezOldy. Just for giggles, if they have someone to translate, I sent em an e-mail. That's not a bad looking guitar. Have you one? If so, how's it play?

Re: Epiphone Price Hike

The Epi Valve junior heads have gone from $99 to $149 in the last year and a half or so. 50% increase in 1.5 yrs? WOW Glad I got 2 of em @ $99. As far as Agile vs. Epiphone. I love my Agile and the only Epiphone I would get right now would be an SG, otherwise I'd go Agile all the way and if need be ...

Re: Various Parts for Your Projects!

Man, I wish I could help you. It seems your projects are more strat related and mine are going the rout of dual humbuckers. I have several "Les Paul" projects going, one SG on the way, two other double cuts, and two flying V's. Plus a strat but I have all I need for that right now, even though that ...

Re: Endless Pursuit of Tone

I had the Vox Valvetronix 30w and sold it. It was a great amp, but I needed money at the time and figured since I was selling to someone I knew really well, I wanted to set this beginning guitarist up with something decent to begin with. I also sold him my Epiphone Goldtop SG. Man, what a nice pair....
