Re: Motivation for Beginners!! =)

Beginners??? Everyone needs motivation. Make a ritual out of getting started. Tune up fastidiously and deliberately...stretch out your strings...re-tune until they stay tuned. By then...you're pretty much playing, already. Motivation will always plague you...so realise it and just go with it....... :D

Re: Which song are you learning right now?

I had an audition for entry into the music conservatorium out this-a-way last Monday...so I'm pretty listless waiting for the results and just playing along to the accompaniment I used. My life has sorta gone into neutral for a bit, it seems. Very odd...but okay! :D

Re: Can it be a Mental Thing?

Some guitars suit the hand differently from others, too. But the conundrum seems to be "if you are a beginner...how do you know"??? I can't answer that one...except (as NOTE said) be more aware of exactly what dynamics your fingers are experiencing. Me...even after five decades...there are times I h...

Re: painful index finger and other misc concerns

the ageing process is sometimes cruel. fighting tendinitis and playing in a band is counter productive. by the end of the first set, my hands are limber. the next morning I feel I have three pairs of gloves on. stretching is vital no matter what age. simple hand stretching before and after can help...

Re: Finger Lock

Unbelievable, but true. The intensive krill oil therapy has stopped my lockups. Now, I'm seeing an occupational therapist. It took a while...but certinly glad I gave it a shot. There was a SMALL chance of infection, the proceedure making it worse, or doing nothing...even losing the finger...with the...

Re: mel bay books and alternatives

I built my business on Mel Bay's "Chord Cycles". Unbelievably cogent book...giving me tons of middle eights. I bought it...something like...40 years ago.

Then you go broke paying for lawyers. Copyright the freakin' thing! It's the cost of a couple packs of strings!

Re: copyright question

Expensive practice if you're prolific! I'll have to look at Australian law more closely (not that I'm composing, but I am naturally curious  ) I'm here in Oz. All my discography is in the USA. Australia is antiquated and open for argument in court: it's "first documented use" passing for copy...

Re: copyright question

You may want to check to make sure, but I believe you can copyright them all at once as a "volume of songs" (a songbook, if you will), using one form and paying one single copyright fee, just as you would for a single song. Many songwriters use this method, copyrighting their songs in batches in or...

Like TR said...

Some trivia: listen to the very beginning of "I Feel Fine"...The Beatles. I would say that's the very first time this feedback was used deliberately. (The Beatles coming up with "a first", imagine that!)

I will state categorically that there is NOT a better resource base for guitarists other than Guitar Noise. Glad you figured that out!
