Re: Older Beginners?

I had a guitar when I was 15 and wasn't successful with it. Now I'm 41 and I've learned more in two months than I did in two years back then. I don't expect to become a guitar "hero" in my lifetime. I only want to prove to myself that I can do what I wanted to do back then. It helps that I have more...

Re: Wish You Were Here

As mentioned earlier in the thread, this lesson wasn't about playing the song exactly as you heard it. It was about learning to play it in your own way. I just opened that lesson two days ago, and several people have heard me play it since then. A few of them began to sing along with it. Not one of ...

Re: GAS Attack!

I shouldn't open threads like this, because now I want one. MF says it can be pre-ordered, and the prices seem reasonable. Marshall Valvestate VS65R (1x12) worth buying?

I have a lead on one of these, with a faulty reverb unit. From what I understand, the reverb isn't much to speak of when it works.

Otherwise, I think the amp sounds pretty good, and it definitely has enough power for a practice amp.

I think I can get it for about $150. Is it worth it?

Re: Howdy from a displaced Texan

I'm glad I'm not the only newby that just came on board today.

It's funny how folks who leave Texas refer to themselves as displaced Texans, but those of us who moved to Texas from elsewhere tend to refer to ourselves simply as Texans. 8)

New Guy from Corpus Christi, TX

I guess I'm the latest new guy here. I'm 41 years old, and I travel all over the world at my job. I'm a power electronics technician, and I specialize in oil and gas drilling rig power and control systems. I just picked up the guitar about two months ago, and I've been fumbling my way through some i...
