Re: Trying to decide on a new six string

Something That doesn't sound like a strat... I recommend first look at a guitar with humbuckers, then go to guitar center or any good guitar shop with a decent selection. Do not look at brand name find a guitar that visually appeals to you and play. You might be surprised what you find. Too many peo...

Re: Home practice area - what does yours look like?

Until the grandkids grow up, and I can move my stuff into the spare bedroom, I have taken over 1/2 of the master bedroom. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll15/sparky1ma/Practicearea011rs.jpg My computer sits on top of my old stereo, so I can see it when I play. I rarely sit when I play anymore. h...

If you only buy one guitar book...

...make it this one: Guitar, A Complete Guide For The Player This book is amazing, my wife gave this to me as a Christmas gift. When I thumbed through it on Christmas and saw the tab and exersizes(sp) for different genre's of music I thought it would be good for a few licks. When I started to really...

Re: This song needs help!!

Thanks for the advice. It is much appreciated. KR I understad where you're coming from and I'm going to change that first verse, but she is 18 yo, so her reaction wouldn't be that bad. Hurricane that's a good idea I hadn't thought of that (aka no talent for writing). Thanks for the tip. Anyone else,...

This song needs help!!

Keep in mind while you read this I have never written so much as a dirty limrick much less an entire song so be kind. This song is about my granddaughter and I want it to be special. thanks dogbite. I thought I was holding some of them to long. I'll do better next time. That was the first recording I'm working on doin' a little more with it. My problem is I try play it how it sounds in my head, but it doesn't seem to come out that way.

Re: teacher or no?

Tray07, here's my 2cents +1 Chric C I went at it on my own for a year or so and completely lost direction. My music teacher from high school offers lessons, but I didn't think he would teach me what I wanted to play so I went with a couple different younger guys, both flaked out on me after about 4 ...

Re: New Member

welcome LPC1996, I've always loved les pauls, the closest I've gotten so far is an epi special II (flat top version) which I like, but my fav at the moment is my New MIM Fender strat. Look forward to hearing more from you. Sounds like you found this forum the same way most of us did, just by chance....

Re: Something I noticed about "personal interpretation"

minotaur, to me playing guitar is a lot like playing golf(stick with me on this one) it's the little victories that keep us going. In golf it's that one great shot after 67 crappy ones that keeps me playing. With the guitar it's that chord change that you have been working on for 2 weeks that finall...

Re: New to the Guitar and the Noise!

Welcome to the noise, enosmac. I'm also into classic rock and getting more into blues rock (a la Stevie Ray Vaughan, Santana, etc), but being 37 yrs old I still can't help but love the 80's hair bands ie poison, white snake (aka. the never ending song  ) bonjovi (the early years). Enjoy the Noi...
