One thing I found helpful was changing the angle my left hand made with the strings. Sometimes just a little shift to make the 'intersection' a bit more.. umm.. perpedicular (?) eases the pain.
...

Re: Beginners' Discussion #2 - For What It's Worth

Thanx for the tip!

I think I to some extent are using a leading finger, mostly the index. To move it in advance I guess one should give some thought to which one to move. Maybe next time :)

Re: Beginners' Discussion #2 - For What It's Worth

I am still mostly working on getting the chord change quick. Does not seam like a good idea to start on the patterns until I can do the change in a relaxed way. All this bussiness of moving several fingers at the same time is a bit of a trouble. Should one go just by "finger memory" or should you fe...

Re: Beginners' Discussion #2 - For What It's Worth

I could not say I have started on this one yet, but cant wait. You got me curious on one thing. When you strum with your fingers, what finger(s) would that be, and what part for up and down strokes? I myselt use my thumb. I stick it out and uses the outer edge of it, right next to the nail, both dow...

Re: Beginners Discussion #1

I am still working a bit on getting the singing while playing down on this one, but it is realy just practicing needed. Actually I have been sitting around waiting for the next one. I had a look at horsie 2, and it seamd a bit complicated, and not very fun. There are also a lot of excercises to do. ...

Re: Beginners Discussion #1

Markyesme, I do the muting with my wrist mostly. Maybe not the best way, cause I tend to miss out on some strings, but anyway. I will try that fleshy part thing,  maybe thats better. What rely helps in getting the rythm down, is doing the muting on 2, 3, and 4. Then you get some action on the beat, ...

Re: Beginners Discussion #1

Hello again! Just to keep you posted on my progression, I have pretty much naild down the basic strumming pattern. I now try to match that with the song. For you who have problems getting the rythm down, here is how I did it. I started with siple 1, 2, 3, 4 to get the chord change. Then I started on...

Re: Beginners Discussion #1

Hello folks! I finally managed to get some time off for practicing, and decided to get in on this horse thing. Beleve it or not, but I have been here before. I tried this lesson some months ago, but gave up cause it seamed pointless. Mostly because I have never heard the song before, so I didn't hav...

Re: Beginner Group - Before You Accuse Me

As you can see, I just covered the lesson my self, but I would say both are quite possible. In the long run you should be able pick only the correct strings, but you could mute a bit until you get there. And I would guess eaven an experienced player might consider muting just to avoid that once in a...

Re: Beginner Group - (Going to) Kansas City

If you havent noticed it yet, I will drop out of the beginner group :'(

I do not have time to practice now, so it will have to wait until winter. Simply to much going on. Maybe there will be a later group?

Good luck to the rest of you!

Re: Beginner Group - Roll Over Beethoven

I play acoustic, but I am having problems floating on just two strings, more like sinking :) If I pick to high I miss a string once and a while, and if I pick lower, I dig in and stumbles. Its easier on more strings I think, because it eavens out sort of. I mean it doesnt matter that much if I stumb...

Re: Beginner Group - Roll Over Beethoven

OK, I think I am really stuck here. I can not say that I have practiced that much, but I have done some, and the fretting is picking up speed. So everything should be just fine? No! I want to do alternate picking. Just picking it down sound a bit dull and monotonic, so I want alternate. But I am jus...
