Hip Hop?

I'm a bit curious....are any of you that frequent these forums hip hop fans? I mean obviously you're fans of guitar driven or often accompanied music but I wonder are any of you Hip Hop Heads too?

Re: Foo Fighters

I bought it today and I can review it right now: If you like the foo fighters overall formula of song writing, you'll like this record as well. Theres no reinvention and no big changes besides all the songs sound heavier. Depending on who you are this is either good or bad. Its a decent record but f...

Re: Learning from those less skilled/experienced .. or Way M

I love Richmond Music Center. I got my Les Paul from them. Favorite salesmen is Jon Blanchard, good guy. I been to guitar works before and I love the feel of it. I bought a little Fuego Azul harmonica from there. Been to Wholesale Guitars before too but their name is a bit misleading to me because I...

And I completely agree. I never said I was satisfied with my guitar playing..I was simply explaining what I do with it now as I get better. But now that we're on the same page I would like to ask you something: I see that you're from Midlo VA, which guitar shop do you go to?

Re: Learning from those less skilled/experienced .. or Way M

I don't really like cover bands. All bands are cover bands. Some just cover music that's written by the one or more of the band members. There's only bands. No such thing as a "cover band." I'm not a very talented musician at all. My guitar approach is to innovate the act of playing as much as poss...

Re: Learning from those less skilled/experienced .. or Way M

Since picking up a guitar in 2007(and then subsequently putting it back down then picking it back up in 2009), I've always wanted to be in a band. MY band more particularly. I don't really like cover bands(Ness K VS. Cover Bands thread topic cemented that), and I want that thrill of going onstage an...

Re: Who's your favorite guitar player/artist

Alex Lifeson from Rush definitely. Also Pete Townshend because I can't look cool windmilling to save a life. Though he's underrated as a guitar player, Bob Dylan is on the list because he can make so many excellent songs with chords we all know but in a way we can never emulate. Jack White because h...

Re: Blues Gear

The song I have in mind is Rollin Stone by Muddy Waters. Its dirty but clean at the same time I think perhaps because his gain was high but I can't figure out how to get that sound

Blues Gear

I have a Epiphone Les Paul and a Line 6 Spider 15watt amp and a Zoom G2 effects processor but I still struggle to find that ideal blues sound. Any suggestions?

How important are scales?

Alright I've been playing for a couple years now and I'm proudly mediocre but one of my weak spots is scales...like just how important are they to your skill as a player? I mean I know that they help in soloing but is that all? Just curious
