Re: Electric guitar woes

This stuff happens and teaches us valuable lessons. I dropped my 7-day old first guitar picking it up by the strap!! Cracked the neck and cost me $65 to repair - but plays good as new and the repaired crack is now probably the strongest part of the neck. I got a couple of opinions from guitar shops ...

Re: Extended trip to Moscow...

gnease - thanks for the advice - need to think about that one. I might consider the modifications if this was going to be a regular thing - but hopefully it is a one-time trip over and back. I'll be coming home for a few visits during the term but will leave the guitar until my permanent return.

Re: Extended trip to Moscow...

You are talking about hotel stays so you are definitely looking for a headphone amp right? Might be a good reason to pick up a Pocket Pod (or even its big brother) if you don't already have one. Pocket Pod at Musician's Friend I wish I had a good reason to drop the coin. I already have a small head...

Re: Rush in Cincinnati

Your setlist is not showing up. I am going July 24th in Indy - have never seen them but am looking forward to it. I was wondering if they stick to the older stuff or mix in a bunch of new songs. My experience with them is mostly up to the "Chronicles" point with a little "Roll the Bones" mixed in an...

Re: Extended trip to Moscow...

Thanks, Dogbite. Yeah, i know it is a modern city and guitars are available. But I have read that some things are difficult to get - at reasonable prices, anyway. It is a city of 12 million people and relatively new to capitalism. I am wondering if anyone has personal experience with the number of g...

Extended trip to Moscow...

All, While I rarely post here, I regularly lurk and research and appreciate all the good info coming from the members of this forum. I am hoping you can help with my dilema... There is a really good chance that I will be making an extended business trip to Moscow (3-6 months). While I will hate bein...

Re: Older Beginners?

Started lessons about 10 months ago just before my 40th birthday. I have learned some chords (and can switch fairly quicly), some progressions and some riffs - just have not really put together whole recognizable songs yet. But, I don't have a lot of free time to devote to it so I am happy with my p...

Re: Electric rhythm guitar?

I had this same struggle myself - until I traded the Vox Valvetronics amp for a Blues Jr. Even on the "clean" channels on the Vox I could never get open chords to sound right - thought it was just me. Now, with the BJ clean, they sound much better. Still need some work on my technique but I feel lik...

Re: Apple is for artists

People I have been reading some of the posts on this forum and I realize that what if everyone had a mac. The new Leopard sucks, but the softwares that come with Apple are exactly what a start up musician would need. It's a little expensive, but I compare Mac and PC to cars with automatic and manua...

Re: How long did it all take to Click????

This will be different for everyone - depending on inherent talent, previous musical experience, access to teachers and other guitar players and, probably most importantly, the amount of time and discipline devoted to practice. I am with Bgdaddy - been playing for about 10 months and, while I have m...

Re: Blown speaker?

I just checked it again and have a little more information that leads me to believe it is speaker related and not an electrical issue. While the noise is kind of a sizzle - like sparks or electronics - it is only there when I hit certain notes or chords. For instance - strum only the 6th string on t...

Re: Blown speaker?

Thanks, Scrybe.

Also, I play an Ibanez artcore semi-hollow that does have much more bass than some guitars - is it possible that this contributed to the problem if the speaker is blown?
