Re: Im a beginner, Should I learn to play with a Pick or with the fingers?

Me Play Bass, Me use Fingers

But seriously, I've played a little finger style guitar also and reaching higher notes is easier (quicker) than string skipping with a pick. IMO

Re: Help With Rhythm

I'm playing Bass these days but like Rhythm guitar it needs to be spot on. Yes I had rhythm problems too, then I went ahead and did myself a favor and learned how to count, musically. Never tried playing Help, but I'm thinking 4/4 time eight notes so counting it's: 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and There's a ...

Re: New Year Resolutions

Guitar actually helped me to quit smoking some years ago, I got it in my head that instead of obsessing about cigs, I would obsess about guitar. Got a whole lot better during that time too.

Hey Dicey Welcome to the world of **work 40+ hours, do chores and become the virtuoso we all want to be!** If you want to find the most efficient method for learning a certain song, well I guess there are many resources on the internet; Guitar Pro, Powertab stuff like that, anything that I can slow ...

Re: My first ever bass

First thing I noticed when I switched from guitar to bass was how tuned into the guitar sound I was. The Bass it seems I’ve hardly even noticed all this time. Identifying with the rhythm and placing the notes right where they need to be has been my goal here. Second, is my reach, particularly the le...

Re: Finger damage question: Advice Please!!

You say your finger is "taking Damage", so if it's something you are doing to cause damage during playing then, yes, you need to stop, take a step back and figure out what's going wrong. We can't have finger damage around here :(

Re: learning mechanically vs. learning by feel

So I'm playing Bass for almost 3 years now after playing guitar for about 15. I guess I can solo pretty good over a 12 Bar chord progression, I enjoyed the time I spent doing it, occasionally pick it up and re-visit some bluesey riffs every now and then :) But now I got the Bass and playing with fol...

Re: Teaching band members a song...

Einstein said “I’m no smarter then the next guy I just work on the problem longer”. I think the guys I’m playing with are pretty close to the same skill levels, and we all have limited time with work, family and such. I want to make the best music I can possibly do, but my greatest motivation is …I ...

Re: What's Happening Everyone?

If my neighbor has lost his job, how long will it be before I lose mine? Outsourcing is bad news. Sorry about the job dude Most every singer who has answered our ads have wanted to know when our first Gig is, and well we're a garage band sorry. So it's on me...I have learned a couple things though; ...

Re: What's Happening Everyone?

I'm doing the Bass thing also, almost 2 years and the 6string stays mostly in it's case. Doing the garage band thing, there's 3 of us and for lack of any other singers, well I'm giving it a go :oooo But like anything, the more you work at yer singing the better ya get! Or at least a little more conf...

Re: Bad ears then what?

Bad ears? Yeah I got that :? But as far as using a slow down program to learn a song by ear, well there is no better way to learn a song thoroughly IMO. Of course the price is time, and a tax on your patience. Yeah I've learned dozens of songs by TAB or some guy on youtube, which is all good but onc...
