Visiting Central London

My wife and I will be spending a week in Central London (near Trafalgar Square) starting on 7/3. I believe there are some Londoners here at Guitar Noise. Can anyone suggest venues to be sure to check out? Anyone have any gigs in that window?

Thanks.

Re: Guitar brand ID help

No idea. Does the logo on the headstock have any text around it beyond the stylized B? That is probably the best clue you have.

Re: Idea for a "low strung" guitar

Try it and see how it works. I would guess that they would be VERY loose on the guitar. It might make it challenging to do much with them.

Re: Music Stands

I find this question interesting, because it seems to me that the answer would vary greatly depending on the particular use for the stand. For example, I only use stands for practice at home, mostly when sitting. I suspect my perfect stand it quite different than someone who uses their stand mainly ...

Re: Question about barre chords

Perhaps it isn't the chords themselves, but the frustration caused by attempting to master them. I suggest the liberal application of beer to the process to mitigate the risk.

I wish I knew the answer. You may want to reach out to the manufacturer to be sure.

Re: Log me on automatically each visit - not working ?

I've played with it a bit more. The problem appears to occur when I choose to use one of the index pinned posts at the top of the forum to navigate to an easy song. When I choose this path, I'm prompted to login again each and every time. But, if I navigate to that post without using the index, my c...

Re: Log me on automatically each visit - not working ?

Then again, I just got prompted to login again while I was in the Easy Songs forum. Maybe something is up.

It is working for me. At least, I've not been prompted to login lately.

Re: Shortening neck using capo

I don't think you can de-tune the guitar enough to 1/2 the number of frets and still end up in standard without the strings being WAY too loose. But, you could easily go down at least a step (capo on 2nd fret) or 2 (capo on 4th fret) and still end up in standard and experiment. Beyond that, you may ...

Re: Practice Help

There are lots of good tips in the lessons section on this site. This one seemed on-point for you: http://www.guitarnoise.com/lessons/mastering-chord-changes/ You need a metronome for this lesson, but if you don't have one, you can find a free one for your computer or smartphone pretty easy via a go...

This site may help:

http://www.guitar-chords.org.uk/chords-key-g.html

I'm not sure exactly what key you are in, but given that progression, it sounds G major-ish. I'd look at going to D or D7 from there, or maybe to B minor depending on what you are after.

Re: Finding chords to a song

Also try google. If you want the chords to the song closer to the heart by rush, I'd use a query like:

"closer to the heart chords" and see what came up. Please the easy song forum here on this site has a ton it its collection.

Maybe we need to modernize. Maybe there should be a migration to Facebook or Google+. I'd love to experiment with Hangouts and playing.

Re: left or right handed?

I'm a lefty, but I play right handed. When starting from absolute scratch, the movements are alien for both hands. Might was well learn on the equipment the way you will commonly find it.
